Electric Boogaloo. 1980 Creepin'. Soul Train Dancing Brothers.

...I'm Dr Zibbs and I my Boogaloo specialty is puppet-tronics...

So how did this 1980 Soul Train Boogaloo video make it onto TBY Creepy Video Weekend? The first guy says that his style is "creepin'". At least I think that's what he said. Does anyone know "Seddy Williams"? ...The creepin' guy? Maybe we can get him to clairify.

And it looks like the fourth dude - the guy who specializes in puppetry is a bit embarrassed when he tells Don Cornelius his dancing specialty of puppetry. Be proud my friend. Be proud.

What's YOUR Boogaloo specialty?

OMG!
Must go listen to Parliament right now!

Great routine, but very awkward intro... nothing worse than timid breakdancers. The Solid Gold dancers were certainly never shy.

Sybil Law - Parliament is great but the music is the Bar-Kays. Also great funk.

Gilligan - They were a bit timid weren't they?

OMG, I remember this. These guys were far from timid, they were secure. No need to be loud or cocky. I loved the "solos" at the end. Just great. Thanks for sharing this zibbsy. xo

K... not to toot my own horn... but I'm gonna... I TOTALLY specialize in Boogaloo pop and locking!

we should start a group... but only if we wear that costume!

Shelle - I don't want to brag either but I'm pretty good at puppetry and robot. Sure, let the fools do their upsurd puppet and robot moves but when I step onto the floor - I move it.

Dr Zibbs said...

..unless you just think puppet and robot dancing is stupid. In that case I probably look like a fool.

OMG, Michael Jackson should see this, oh what? Wait, too late... But still, P-Funk has it over on this music, about 75%. Did anyone ever have enough balls to come out dancing to Parlaiment? If so, Zibbs, please show me the way...

Dr. Zibb, oh, you got me this time. LOVE the Barcays, love this music and love to dance to it. Never could pop-and-lock but I do a rock-steady "Bump" that will get you to buy me (or WANT to buy me) a drink.

:-)

Love it.

I specialize in the "white chick boogaloo."

I specialize in acoustic boogaloo. Believe me, it's tough to look awesome creepin' to a Jack Johnson song.

I think I am going to cry and laugh. Yup, I totally boogaloo. Is that like Jellin'?

JK!

How did we ever reproduce in that era? We all looked scary like that!

Those are some crazy threads going on there.

I got big butt and I cannot lie...

Makes my boogaloo funky.

Blogging Mama - I may be try to replicate one of those outfits out random fabric and tinfoil.

If my first prototype comes out a bit too small I'll put it aside for you.

Just to clarify...I am the fourth dancer "Puppet Boozer". There was no embarrasment or timidness. We were proud, excited and a little nervous. We were also very young, I was 19 at the time. You need to take a closer look my friend. When you have been in our shoes as innovators introducing your craft to the world...then you may able to critique a with a little more clarity. Keep dancing...
