Listen To What This One Idiot Said About His Wedding. Tux Shoes.

So here’s the conversation I heard the other day between two guys. It looks like both were contractors. The younger one was about 25 and the older one was about 40.

Older Guy: So how’s the wedding stuff going?

Young Guy: Well we got into dis big ass fight. I told her: "I AM NOT WEARING DRESS SHOES TO DA WEDDING!"

Older Guy: Really?

Young Guy: No. I told her, “I hate dress shoes. I hate da way dey look. I hate da way dey feel and I’m not wearing em'. I’m wearing sneakers.” Dat's my ONE thing.

Older Guy: What did she say?

Young Guy: She didn’t believe me. Den dis morning she says, “Don’t forget that we see da video guy tonight.” I was like, “I’m on strike. Until you know dat I’m not wearing dress shoes I’m on strike.” (All proud and shit): I. AM. ON. STRIKE!

Oh come on now! What idiot wears sneakers with a tux? Can you imagine what type of fool this guy is going to look like?

Thoughts?

From the sound of the conversation, I'm sure he'll look right at home in sneakers while being married at the checkout of the Walmart.

Just about every teen comedy in the 80's had some "rebel" show up at the prom wearing a tux (usually ridiculous) and a pair of high-top sneakers. Maybe he's just nostalgic.

and so did John Mayer (double douche)

maybe he should get a pair of these?

I give the marriage three weeks. Tops.

He just needs to wear them for the ceremony and pictures and then can put on da sneakers.

Idiot.

I don't think it's that big of a deal, actually. I mean, some Vans might look good with the tux. They're just shoes!
Although, he sounds dumb as shit, so he's probably got some souped up obnoxious shoes, in which case, they'll suck.
Maybe it's kinda good he's sticking up to her a little now!

Sounds like a classy chap. I'll bet he wants a wedding fedora too...

Stand your ground, sneaker man! It'll totally be worth it for the rest of your life.

Hopefully this incident will convince bride to be that this guy isn't marriage material. Or that he is neck stab material.

I have to say, I'm with Chelle on this one. It's his wedding too...why not?

That being said, no, my husband did not wear sneakers and if he wanted to I would've killed him!

But, whatever floats your boat.

If it were my wedding, and as the bride I was typically getting my way for almost everything and the sneakers were his one thing?
I would happily let him wear sneakers, so long as they were black sneakers and not WHITE ones.
What is it with men and the white socks and shoes anyways??

It is quite evident that this "man" has not the noble bearing of our esteemed author.

Men's Warehouse: Tuxedo sells black Chuck T's to wear with your tux. And I could have gone that route without my wife saying a word.

After all, she DID wear sneakers under her wedding dress.

"I am NOT going to English class today, mom! Until I get to watch more Cosby Kid cartoons, I am on strike!"
What a moron, probably can't tell his hammer from a hole in the ground.

I'm hiding this post from my fiancé. I don't want him getting any ideas.

What Scope said.

It is a little ridiculous, particularly his belligerent attitude, but, meh. Not a biggie. My husband went the full tux and dress shoes route, but he changed out of it as quickly as possible. I took off my shoes and walked around barefoot at the reception. (And we had a lovely outdoor wedding, with nary a Walmart in sight.)

I give him a pass on the shoes. Not the "strike."

I referenced you in my POST today.

He'll wear the dress shoes. That conversation was just for older guys benefit.

Momcat - could be true.
