Some Things I'm Craving. Snapper Soup Is One.
Oh baby I'm craving some snapper soup. (See picture above). It's snapping turtle ya know. And you pour a little sherry in and swirl it around. Ever have it? I had no idea it's a regional dish to the Northeast. I always thought it was a Southern dish. Not according to the Food Network.
Then when I'm done that I'd like some Shrimp Lejon. I used to make it all the time. Haven't in a while. It's shrimp wrapped in bacon with horseradish in the midde. Here's a picture:
Then when I'm done I'd like a slice of chocolate peanut butter pie. You know me and peanut butter. OK. Get to work.

I'm with Sybil.
i'm with the good Dr, all in due time and sassy salty over sweet for me....
I have a hard time with eating turtle. Definitely would try the shrimp! And I don't like Peanut Butter...well maybe the candy bits around the pie. If they're Reese's...
I've had turtle soup down in New Orleans a few years back. It was delish. But, as you stated, it's also a local delicacy in the Delaware Valley region. Per Wiki, there is (or was) a joint in Philly called Old Original Bookbinder's that's the oldest seafood restaurant in that city. And one of their specialties is Snapper Soup. They also sell a canned version in supermarkets. Not sure I would trust that, though.
Trina - You'll eat it and LIKE IT!
Earl - I saw that Bookbider's makes it in a can too. I agree that I'd be weary. Maybe I'll pick it up anyway and give it a shot.
Are you SURE the top image isn't just a bowl of brown gravy?
Kelly - it actaully tastes a bit like gravy. Also, I tried to leave a comment on your blog but something weird happened.
Ummm, I'll skip straight to the pie...
Izzy - you too??
Yeah we know you and peanut butter.
That picture of the pie is better than porn.
Sorry! But it looks like what happens when my baby eats oatmeal & squash for breakfast ;)
