The West Chester Chili Cook-Off is just a day away. The festival runs from noon - 4 on Gay Street in downtown West Chester. Here's some Red Hot Chili Peppers, live from Poland to get you in the mood. Watch Flea work that bass.
I think it was five times, let's see...The Reading Festival in 1999, V Festival in 2001, with the Mars Volta in Manchester in 2003 and with James Brown in Manchester in 2004. Hmm, maybe it was just four times, then. I thought I'd seen them at another festival as well, but it might only have been the two.
"Pants" means "crap", but is a bit milder than that word.
And I lived in Liverpool, but now I'm in Toronto, Canada.
I've seen the Peppers live a few times, and I can't figure them out. They can be the best live band in the world, and they can look like they just picked up their instruments and have no idea what to do. And often, they're both of those things in the course of the same show. Ultimately they're a little disappointing because they show you what they could be if they got it together.
Zibbs: No worries. As for the Beatles, it didn't really bother me until I moved to Japan. Even if you can't speak English, you know that the stock answer to "I am from Liverpool" is "Ah! Za Beaturesu!" There's only so often you can give someone that "Oh yeah! That's a valid cultural reference!" look.
Hah! Gwen-I thought the same thing about the drummer! Hey! I usually don't get too into the RHCP, but I like that song a lot! I have always liked John Frusciante-solo, but never too much of the band. Maybe I need to take another look!
Gah! That Flea is so hot. Why is it the really sexy ones always seem (smelly) dirty?
ReplyDeleteThe drummer looks like Will Farrell in this video.
Have an awesome Saturday, Doc!
Maybe I will see you there Doc. I am a judge for the 5th time. Uesd to be a celebrity judge. Now I guess they just feed the unemployed
ReplyDeleteGwen - I was thinking the same thing about the drummer!
ReplyDeleteAnon - I will see you there.
Those guys are all fine musicians.
ReplyDeleteGood band, though their last album was pants. I've seen them live about five times, once supported by James Brown! That was a good day.
ReplyDeleteIMag Rev - You saw them five times? Where? Also, what does the expression pants mean? Crap? Also, where in England do you live?

Imag Rev - thanks for answering the line of questioning. As for living in Liverpool, how often do you get sick of people asking you about the Beatles?

ReplyDeleteI saw them on Lollapalooza 92 and thought they were amazing.
