Kid Rock and Jerry Lee Lewis Doing A Cover

I love hearing bands do cover songs. In fact, I have a great playlist on my Ipod with just cover tunes. Here's one that I ran across with Kid Rock and Jerry Lee Lewis doing Honky Tonk Woman. What do you think? And to hear his current big hit, "All Summer Long" , click here. I still think it wasn't nesessary to sample Sweet Home Alabama for this to be a good song.

  1. Here's what I think.

I think my computer NEVER lets me watch videos/hear music. But somehow...it let me get through this whole thing.

I think that tells me that Kid Rock and I are truly meant to be.

  2. You do that too? I've got plenty of covers, Ben Folds covers The Cure "In Between Days" and Ben Folds covers The Clash "Lost in the Supermarket", Blues Traveler covering War "Low Rider"...among others, yes! You have a favorite?

  3. I loves me some cover songs but I have to say I could only sample tiny bits of this without shuddering, and not in a good way.

  4. Sass - you need a new computer/internet provider. I have Verizon Fios and it's great. I wonder how many other readers can't view vids.
Andrew - I'm going to have to look up Lost in the Supermarket. London Calling is on my top 10 albums list.
    Dale - It's a bit different.

  5. I have to say that I hate Kid, but I do like that All Summer Long song. I liked this one, but I just had to block the RS out of my mind while listening!

  8. The original is such a favorite of mine that it was kind of hard to listen to this because it's so different. Overall, I think Kid Rock takes too much shit. I don't own any of his records, but he's okay in my book. At least he's completely himself. There's no rock star BS with him.

I love covers, too. I like imagining covers I'd like to hear that don't exist. My two favorites are Beck doing ELO's "Don't Bring Me Down" and U2 doing Bowie's "Heroes".

  9. I think the song's great. I also LOVE Kid Rock's entire album/CD "Rock and Roll Jesus". I bought it almost a year ago when it came out. I don't mind the taste of Sweet Home Alabama in "All Summmer Long". In context of the entire album - it works.

BTW, very few people know I listen to Kid Rock. Please don't tell the Junior League Mom's at my sons' school...

  11. I think they're a good pairing as they would both sleep with and/or marry 14 year old girls without a second thought.

That said, I love them both anyway.

  13. The first time I met Kid Rock, he was standing behind a table selling his own shirts. No one really knew him yet and only 15 people showed up for his show. His live shows are fantastic, not because he has a great voice [he doesn't] but because he goes all out.
