Gayest TV Theme Song Ever. Eight Is Enough.

What is the gayest TV theme song ever? The votes are in and it's season 3 of Eight is Enough.

"We spend our days like bright and shiny new dimes? " How did anyone approve that line. (Clenches butt) I feel kind of gay just saying it.

But I'll tell you one thing, some of those sisters were hot.

And Nicholas? Everyone always said he was cute but look at the size of that head. It's huge! That thing wouldn't even fit into a standard sized bowling ball bag. Think about it.

So now is the time to listen to the song and finally realize how terrible it was. Who was YOUR favorite character on Eight is Enough? And why was David so serious all the time?

Why is it, that there was a time in American history, when any man under the age of 50, had no visible ears, but instead long flowing locks of feathered hair covering said ears? Was it difficult to hear when spoken to during those days? I fortunately spent the 70's with a Johnny Unidas crew cut, sure I was picked on, a lot, I'm still working things out with a therapist, but I can look back on family photos of that era without shame...

Oh and did you notice, not a cell phone, not a wireless router, not an iPod, not a laptop in that whole big house, how did people get along back then? I guess One Day at a Time....oh wait, that was another show...

My mother cut my hair exactly like fricking Nicholas Bradford for ages 3 and 4.
I have not yet forgiven her.
I am now 33.
I think I may show her this post and get her to take me to lunch out of guilt.
More likely she'll just laugh and say "Yeah, you were as lame as Nicholas, so the haircut was a no-brainer."
Damnit.

@Zibbs - no poster, but I do happen to know that Grant Goodeve sang the theme song as well as playing David. Now how gay is that?

The sisters were hot. And according to IMDB, not a one of them went on to do a DAMN thing.

The voice alone is enough to make you realize how gay the show really was. And I gotta say, being from a big family, it's about as realistic as Santa Clause having brunch with the Easter Bunny...unless you're stoned.

I agree with all the prior comments. Eight is Enough never did anything for me. Dick Van Patten scared me. To this day whenever I see a poofy head of hair I call it a Nicholas Bradford.

I didn't watch that show when I was a kid.

I was too busy watching Brady Bunch and taking lessons on how to look like a virgin while being a whore, from Marsha.

All those raging hormones under one roof and not one episode of brothers spying on sisters in the shower...and thats supposed to be real life...yeah right!!!

Coolred38 said...

I might add that according to the title Eights Enough...are we to understand it means 8 children are enough...or 8 messy feebled fumblings of sexual ineptitude that still ended up as a pregnancy is enough? just wondering

The gayest TV theme song ever is Perfect Strangers. But that's only because the Odd Couple theme didn't have lyrics.

David was the smoldering, deep thinking, hottie of his time. I recently found out that my husband had the hots for Mary-WTF?!

Jeannie said...

I never watched that show - the Brady Bunch and the Walton's did me in for large families.

Dr Zibbs said...

OHN - He liked Mary?? That's like saying Mrs. Howell was the good looking one.

Didn't watch Eight is Enough, but I certainly think it is! How could they afford that many children? Those poor kids must have worn hand-me-downs their whole lives!

That Richardson woman is from Chester County Pa. She had some issues after the show and lost her mind. She is all good now and is a nurse at a local hospital.

... and I am transported back to being 12 years old and eating a bowl of ice cream in front of the tube.

I always wanted the hair of the sister with the really long thick hair. And I was hot for the oldest brother.

Wait, I thought that techno song from Queer as Folk was the gayest TV theme?

Dr Zibbs said...

I loved Willie Ames; but seriously I remember wondering what was wrong with their family. We only had 5 and it was not one damn sissy thing like that household.

Dr Zibbs said...

Miss Alex - glad I could make you laugh.

Oohhh Tommy Tommy Tommy. I think he was on some celebrity weight loss show or something... but back then, he was comparable to Marcia on the Brady Bunch for guys. Mmmm.

God, I always hated that fuckin song and especially the dude singing it who is off key.

No offense, but everyone who has made a degrading comment about the 8 IS ENOUGH theme song has done so for a lack of insight and are products of our seedy pop culture. The song was nice and so was the show. I'm a Judas Priest fan, for heaven sake, and even I can see that. Incidentally, in latter seasons I think they re-recorded the theme song and Goodeve throttled back on the vibrato and the song was'nt as hyper-pure sounding as it had been, and was better. And nevertheless, that show was your last crack at the wholesomeness of the American dream being prime-timed across your screen, so happy sailing if you really think that's a good thing. You freaks probably like hip-hop.
