Various Things Since It's Memorial Day Friday. Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ.
A few things since it's Memorial Day Friday and people are going to be itching to get out of work early.
- For my foreign readers. Do you even HAVE memorial day? And for my American readers will you be sneaking out early? Any good plans for the holiday?
- I was invited to Sea Isle (New Jersey shore) for the weekend - free. I'm not "shore" if I'm going to go. Get it? "shore" instead of "sure"?
- I wonder how soon really good sweet corn will be ready? It's probably going to be a while.
- The helicopters have almost fallen from the eight maple trees in my yard so I may be able to order mulch finally.
- If you're having BBQ this weekend get some Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce . I just discovered it recently and it's the best I've ever had from a bottle.
- I declare this the second worst post ever on TBY.
P.S. - I think the BBQ sauce flavor I had of Sweet Baby Ray's was hickory.
ReplyDeleteI think you're being generous when you say "second". ;? Which was the first?
ReplyDeleteMy husband loves Sweet Baby Rays sauce. The best part is they keep having it on sale for a dollar a bottle so I've stockpiled like a gross of it. In case there is ever some natural disaster or quarantine, we can live on BBQ sauce.
Yes, shore, go for it. If anyone wants to know what I'm doing, you could read my blog, it doesn't suck that much. And I have tried B.R.'s sauce, it's sweet all right.
ReplyDeleteI think I tasted some at the Costco the other night. That's where we take the kids when we don't feel like cooking--take plently of samples kids 'cause this is your dinner.
ReplyDeleteBTW, Zibby-doodle, I know you haven't visited me in a while and that is ok. However, I think you might want to check out the 3/4 naked boobies on my last post. I just didn't want you to miss them. Luvz ya. ;)
Devil's - The first worst was last year sometime. I think it was in August.
ReplyDeleteJ.Hi - I read most of your posts. I just don't comment as much as I used to. Anywhere.
We're having a BBQ Sunday, but we are die hard fans of Country Bob's sauce. Delicious.
ReplyDeleteSamsmama - Never heard of that one but I will check it out.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sick of using Kraft BBQ sauce. Even though I usually ad brown sugar, garlic, onion, syrup, mustard and hot sauce to it.
My man makes his own BBQ sauce. He thinks he's freakin' Emerald.
ReplyDeleteMy father in-law makes the best BBQ sauce. I like a really strong vinegar flavor on my BBQ.
ReplyDeletehaha I have sweet baby rays in the pantry!!!
ReplyDeleteWe're having a little bbq tomorrow, if you would like to come. My e-mail is dyejobslye at hotmail dot com.
ReplyDeleteHope you have an awesome loooong week-end and have yourself some sweet rays!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI will have to give your BBQ sauce a try. I really like "Famous Dave's" Devil spit. We like HOT BBQ sauce!!!
ReplyDeleteTrust me, this is not one of two of your worst posts. Just say'n!
Helicopters!! (Snicker) I didn't think anyone even knew what those were called. That's pretty funny. Give a couple of them a toss/whirl for me will ya?
Have a WONDERFUL Holiday!
- Jennifer
Diane - thanks but my cape is at the cleaner's.
ReplyDeleteAlso, what part of PA are you from?
Jennifer - I'll put that BBQ sauce on my list.
Zibbs,
ReplyDeleteYou mean you've never had Stubb's Bar-B-Q sauce made in Austin, TX? Oh, Daddy, you NEED to try it!
And get your ass to Sea Isle this weekend! Duh!
Scandalous - I won't buy it because the label is racist.
ReplyDeleteNaaa. I have had it and it's delicious.
I use Sweet Baby Ray's when cooking up the easiest Horse De'veer's of all time.
ReplyDeleteCrock pot + Sweet Baby Rays + Grape Jell + Little Smokeys (you can also use them pre-made meatballs from Trader Joe's) = Yummy F'n Good!
My mom introduced me to Sweet Baby Ray's....I continue to purchase it strictly because the name makes me chuckle.
ReplyDeleteCan you whistle with the helicopters? For some reason I think we did this as kids. If you can, please video and post.
ReplyDeleteHelicopters! That really brought me back to childhood.
ReplyDeleteI like Sweet Baby Ray's sauce a lot when I want a sweet sauce. I also like the Famous Dave's Devil Spit for spicy. Sometimes I even mix them for a taste explosion in my mouth.
I don't like bar-be-que. Why is that the Memorial Day fav? Deep fried pickles on a stick are much tastier and really represent what America is all about IMO.
ReplyDeleteHeh...funny. I just tweeted about Sweet Baby Ray's. I used to be a KC Masterpiece type of man, but then I had Sweet Baby Ray's....yummaayy!!
ReplyDeleteBy the way...YES Kraft is gross. I really don't like any 'vinegary' barbecue sauces.
ReplyDeleteI live in Coaldale, it's in the foothills of the Poconos. About an hour north of Allentown, or 20 minutes east of Jim Thorpe.
ReplyDeleteI knew you would have better plans, but you can't blame me for trying. xo
Oh Diane, hillbilly country huh?
ReplyDeleteSome of my ancestors at the turn of the century were coal miners in Scranton.
will i be sneaking out early?
ReplyDeletefuck yeah! im actually leaving now :)
Sweet Baby Ray's is a staple in our house. Have a great weekend, buddy!
ReplyDeleteSouth Jersey here and yeah, we love Sweet Baby Ray's too. On spareribs tonight. Yum.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all Sweet Baby Ray should be sending you some cash. 2nd, they sell it at our local hardware stores and c: you're right, it is the best with the exception of a local bbq restaurant that sells their sauce.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Laura - welcome to TBY
ReplyDeletePeggy - I want YOU to have a good weekend.
Seriously, the best is to mix sweet baby ray's with a bottle of jack daniels' bbq sauce.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Sweet Baby Ray's recommendation. I will give it a shot. You are too hard on yourself. I liked this post. It's hard to go wrong when you feature food. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteSweet Baby Rays = Awesome
ReplyDeleteHickory = What I'm most allergic to
The Shore = Awesome
New Jersey = Death
I'm just sayin'
Prunella - I love all pickles - where can I find them deep fried on a stick? Girl, you have to turn me on. In exchange, I promise to send you some garlic-dill ones straight from my garden...
ReplyDeleteFancy - you're asking Prunella to turn you on? Be prepared. That's all I'm sayin'.
ReplyDeleteI may be the only one that doesnt like BBQ sauces! Yeah I know Im crazy. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteNow that I don't have a corporate job, I think three-day weekends are stupid and should be banned. They inconvenience me, dammit! I can't get stuff done.
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna have to see if I can get that sauce around here- I've heard of it before!
ReplyDeleteNo big plans this weekend, other than to drop the kid off at grandma's and ingest in some alcohol. :)
Ever since we had Famous Dave's in MN, we tell the relatives to sneak some in their suitcases when they winter in AZ. I can't handle the Devil Spit though. I'm rather fond of my tongue...and so is my man.
ReplyDeleteHey! Visit me on Monday! 100th post!
Sweet Baby Ray's is one of the best commercial sauces available, IMHO. The National BBQ News (competitive q geeks like me) forum did a post in the past year or so and this was one of the favorites "when not using your own".
ReplyDeleteSure we have memorial days - the bad part is, it's in November, so no BBQ for us !!
ReplyDeleteLove any sauce ; that bottle look inviting and I'm craving for a little piece of BBQ grilled meat right now (and it's 8 in the morning)
No, we don't have Memorial Day in England. Or Thanksgiving. So we're an ungrateful, forgetful bunch of fuckwits.
ReplyDeleteChris - that's good to know. And I just started following you again. I guess I was unfollowed when you changed the name of your blog.
ReplyDeleteAustralia's version of Memorial Day is called Anzac Day. It's sort of a cross between Memorial Day & Veterans Day, because it's a national holiday and there is a parade.
ReplyDeleteANZAC is an acronym for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, originating from WWI, but Anzac Day has come to commemorate all wars in which Aus/NZ were involved. It certainly doesn't glorify war but rather mourns the loss of good people to it and honors those who served.
Sweet Baby Ray's IS tha shizz!
ReplyDeleteI just get the regular one.
Good stuff!
