Waiting For Guffman. Nothing Ever Happens On Mars. Funniest Movie.

Waiting for Guffman is on my top 10 list of funniest movies ever. If you haven't seen it, go rent it now. Here's the song "Nothing Ever Happens on Mars" featuring Christopher Guest, Catherine O'Hara and crew.

And Eugene Levy as the Martian.

Seriously, if you're looking for a movie that is super dry, this is it. It's even better than Spinal Tap.

  1. Okay, Yak, I'm gonna trust you on this. "Better than Spinal Tap"? I hope you're right because Tap is one of my favorites.

I'll let you know how it goes.

  2. I love all of Christopher Guest's movies. Spinal Tap, Guffman, Best in Show, A Mighty Windm etc. His regular cast of supporting actors are also very funny. Some people don't care for those movies, but I think they are the pinnacle of comedy.

Chaka - I agree. The acting is so subtle that it makes it hilarious.

  6. I have to say, Waiting For Guffman is my least favorite of the Christopher Guest movies, but I love them so much that I still think this is pretty great :)

  7. WWW - I would have thought you of all people would have loved this the best. I thought Mighty Wind was a disappointment and Best of Show was pretty good but I was really bummed after I saw it because Guffman was so great.

  8. I can't believe I've never seen it...My brother has been pimping that movie for years! I can't, however, believe it's better than Spinal Tap. We'll see Nigel! Oops...I just used your real name! Sorry!

  9. Whereas Eugene Levy stole the show in A Mighty Wind and Fred Willard likewise in Best In Show (in my opinion), Guffman is all Christopher Guest. Great stuff!

  10. Some Guy - I agree. Christopher Guest as Corky is the best character in this movie. Brilliant.

And Levy and Willard are great too.

  11. See...we were destined to meet. My family's from Westchester, NY.

This is SO FUNNY. I'm going to just start with this. Are you really a doctor? If you are you should introduce yourself to Miathri. He's really a doctor. He's the "softer" side of you. You're like a "Scrubs" doctor. You have cable, right. Okay, get on the BBC. Canadian and British comedy shows are insanely funny. Insane I tell you. You will seriously laugh your ass off. *Puts on glasses and looks for Dr. Zibbs ass.*

Oh, and thanks for the shout out about my love of Mr. T. and Ms. C. Seriously good stuff. You have to appreciate a divorced husband and wife who overlook a whole hell of a lot of shit and sing together in middle age. It's beautiful. And yes...they are still "Woodstockies!" So are the B-52's, David Bowie, etc. The list is long. I should probably work for the National Inquirer. Hummmmmmm. That's a though. *Suze considers career change.*

  14. "Corky. We want you to live!"

I absolutely love this movie. One of my top 10, for sure.

And WWW is, as usual, wrong. This the best CG movie.

  15. Despite the opinion of the usually-cogent Red, the order of CG mockumentaries is:

    1. This Is Spinal Tap
    2. Best In Show
    3. A Mighty Wind
    4. Untitled (and unfinished) WWW Project
    5. Waiting For Guffman

  16. Red - you are correct. And WWW, I'mI'm very, very concerned.

So concerned in fact that I've contacted your parents and they're on their way to LA.
