I remember when I was going through my dad's records when I was younger. Mixed in with Jazz stuff I never heard of and Frank Sinatra records I also found a Paul Revere and the Raiders album. It was when they were cool but this song was on a later album.
Here's Indian Reservation. I used to listen to this one on 45.
Feel free to march around with a make shift hatchet while listening to it.
My 45 rpm was Joe Tex's 'I got you'. I played that thing into the ground when I was a kid.
ReplyDeleteShit. Just realized I spelled 'Gotcha' the dumb white guy way instead of the hip black dude way. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteWestChesterDead - I should list some of my favorite 45's in a post.
ReplyDelete45s? you're so old.
ReplyDeleteOh, I remember this song well. We lived, stereotypically enough, in a trailer park just outside of an Indian Reservation in northwest Minnesota. My mother's best friend was Indian, and we hung out with her and her family all the time. We would sing this song at the top of our voices, doing special "dances" around the ever-present fires on the rez.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know for YEARS that this band wasn't Indian...

Here's something else from the 70's; "jive turkey", and that's what these guys were. A jive turkey is someone who infiltrates another culture and tells them everything. Look at that guy at 1:18, he looks English, like Paul McCartney.
ReplyDeleteThat tune's a real flash from the past for me. Thanks for posting it.
ReplyDeleteDiane, if it helps any, they were from either Iowa or Idaho. So at least they lived NEAR Indians.
ReplyDeleteEh, they were a bunch of potato farmers then.
ReplyDeleteI wore a hole in the living room carpet dancing to these guys.
ReplyDeleteAww, I miss their colonial outfits.
ReplyDeleteLost in S - yeah. I liked them better on the outfits too.
ReplyDeleteThe guy at the 3:00 mark totally stole Carol Brady's hairdo.
