Just Watched Dateline NBC Special On Woodstock - Canned Heat.

Just watched the Dateline NBC story on the anniversary of Woodstock. Here's one of my favorite songs from Woodstock... Canned Heat doing Going Up the Country. It's the song that just defines the event for me. If I were the flute player I would have totally ruined the performance because I'd would have been totally hamming it up. Running around the stage with the flute and all.

I wasn't in the band though because I was only a wee, wee child at the time and I didn't play flute.

    I love that song too. Also loved Richie Havens "Freedom". I just saw a guy in a Richie Havens t-shirt today at the diner. I didn't realize at the time that it's the anniversary of Woodstock, duh.

    I was 16 the year Woodstock happened, just beginning to spread my wings. A year or so later I saw Canned Heat live, but I can't remember where. I wonder why that is? Those were my formative years and msde me the man I am today.

    Ok, Zibby, how old were you REALLY in 1969? I bet you had a front-row seat at Woodstock.

    Evert 4th of July we would haul our big ass speakers out onto the deck and blast Hendrixs doing the Star Spangled Banner across the valley.

    The whole area just loved us.

    my parents used to take me to mini woodstocks when I was younger. There was a lot of hippy dancing (usually naked which is not a good thing when everyone is an old trippy hippy and very wrinkley..)

    My fav hippy song has to be Sweet Home Alabama. I'm neither American nor have I been to Alabama every but I like to naked hippy dance to it.

    Friend and I were trying to hitch ride to get to Woodstock at Penna turnpike on ramp. We were 17.

    We never made it. My father was heading onto the turnpike - timing is everything? - that was the end of our pilgrimage along any other freedom for the rest of that year since we were grounded and then some.

    Start the day, everyday - with Jimi Hendrix.

    (Purple Haze made losing virginity memorable - they guy didn't though)
