Montgomery Mini Mall Commercial Leads To People Dancing.

To finish out my unintentional few days of featuring black people on TBY, here's what I found when I just typed "worst commercial" into the YouTube.

What caught my eye? You guessed it. Black people.

It's some black ladies dancing to a commercial for Montgomery Mini Mall.

  1. You gotta give the main lady credit. She's got one secure belt.

With all that moving and bending I was waiting for some crack action.

  4. Ok, let me roll up my sleeves and get down to the business of giving this epic work a proper reviw:

First, the running length is a bit long, but I’ll overlook that since it IS the director’s cut, with the 30 second commercial spot being just a bit too short for most people’s taste. What is also lacking is a commentary track, but I’m hoping that the special edition 2010 DVD release will correct that obvious flaw, as I am always interested in the director’s explanation of his work. Getting down to the actual film itself, it brings to mind hints of Koyaanisqatsi, directed by Godfrey Reggio (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koyaanisqatsi). Of course the Koyaanisqatsi soundtrack by Philip Glass does not hold up nearly as well as the mini mall soundtrack, and it is this thematic element that catapults the Montgomery Mini Mall film into a league with the truly great short films of the past fifty years.

Dr Zibbs, I really appreciate that you have once again unearthed a real cinematic treasure and I can only hope that the National Film Preservation Society bumps this film to the top of their preservation list, as it would be a crime against humanity to lose such a gem.

  6. I am scared. If the lady with the jeans and the lady with the black pants ever bumped asses hard enough, the gravity might result in a binary star forming.
