A Few Blogs To Check Out. West Chester Blogger. Chester County.

I kind of feel like the golden age of blogging is over. It seems like a lot of the bloggers that used to visit and leave comments on my blog have stopped blogging.

There are also so many blogs out there that are so boring that I can't believe people write them. It's even more amazing when you see that they have a huge following. It's mostly those "Mommy blogs". You mean little Sally said something cute? I don't believe you. Please tell me every detail and explain it as if she just solved the riddle of time*.

The best thing about reading someone's blog over time and reading the comments that they leave is that you really get to know the person. People that don't blog really don't understand it and they just roll their eyes when you try to explain it.

Here are a few blogs I'd like to mention:

Son of a Thomas - Chester County blogger that's been following TBY for a long time. Wish he would blog more. Met him a few times. We still need to have lunch again soon. Bubble up.

Skylers Dad - Funny ass commentor. Never met him but long time TBY follower. I'm sure we'd be good friends if we met. King of finding crappy tattoos.

Caffeine Court - Never met in person but it turns out we went to rival high schools. We've discovered though emailing that we know some of the same people. She's also a great Twitter friend. I think she wants to go to the Whiteland Town Center with me and pretend it's the old Exton Drive-In. (P.S. I had a dream about her last week).

And for someone new:

Enough Hats For Everyone Kristen. We found each other recently on Twitter. She's got a great sense of humor and just recently just started blogging. Very interesting take on things. Always great to find funny and interesting people. And she's into horror movies like me.

So go check out their blogs, follow them and tell them Zibbs sent you.

*Wait. Is there a riddle of time? I don't know. There probably is.

  1. I am partial to simplynotso
She is a sibling to caffeine court and although her writing skills are not as good, she is a hoot in person.

  2. I will check these out. I know what you mean about the blogosphere.

Separately, thanks for reminding me that people have been asking me for a manufacturing post. I'll have to do a serious one. In the meantime, here's the one shot I have of a wax model:

  3. Anonymous -haha. I just looked at her blog. She just posted something a few days ago then the one before that is Jan 2009?? Tell her to get writing.

Wendy - looking forward to that post.

  4. That's very sweet of you, Dr Zibbs. I look forward to following the others you recommended. I realize I am about 10 years too late to blogging, but it's still hella fun. TBY has me laughing every time (except when it's sad, then i cry).

  5. That anonymous commenter was my little sister...Simply Not So and @forjill on Twitter.

She is jealous of our blog relationship, but she went to Villa Maria, so what does she know??

Thanks for the plug..I owe you one.

    GO VIKINGS!!!

  6. It's so funny that you write this today b/c it's the first time in a while I've checked out TBY although I do sometimes read your Tweets (very funny) and also got an email this morning from Samsmama who I haven't heard from in a while.

I just kind of fell out of the whole blog scene as quickly as a fell into it. Weird. I'll always be a Dr. Zibbs fan though...stay golden ponyboy!

  7. Kristen - it's never too late. And thanks for the compliment.

Caffeine- Let's calm down here. There's enough of Dr Zibbs to go around for everyone. (Except for the skanks)

Peggy - My dearest Peggy. Where have you been? I miss your comments. Don't be a stranger.

  8. Crap, now I have to come up with something!

    Oh! I know!

Wait until you hear about what my kids did today!!!!

  9. Son of A - Write about an awkward interview incident. Or something Henderson related. Something with a local flavor.

  10. Hey Dr. Z - some of us are still here, reading mostly through the google reader and not commenting as much as we used to...

But you're right, the comments are a huge part of what makes it fun.

I'll try to stop by the actual blog a bit more often.

  11. Thanks for the shout Doctor! I agree that a lot of folks seem to be migrating to Facebook.

Those poor cast off blogs, sitting unattended in their cages on death row waiting for the shot to end it all.

Speaking of uplifting... Have you seen todays tats?!?!

  12. LegalMist - thanks.

SkylersDad - I agree with the Faceboook. And the Twitter. I am a bit addicted to Twitter but I only use Facebook to promote my blog.

  13. I've been trying to get back to it, but I caught this disease where my fingers have all swollen up the size of sausages and I can't type anymore, and...and...Ok, I've been guilted.

  14. I agree with you completely. Although I primarily write for my own enjoyment, I do try to make it funny (if I'm in a funny mood).

And I try to vary the topic. I totally hear you and feel you about 'the mommy blogs'...so much of the same BS. It's like they're repeating each other's stories/comments. But I do follow a few 'mommy blog' types, but only because they are riotously funny, and not the same ol' same ol'.

I don't get too many comments to my posts, but the ones I do are from really loyal followers who enjoy the act of communication and connecting to those with similar interests.

I'm going to check out the blogs you listed, only because you listed them. Coming from you, that's reason enough for me!

  15. LOL SkylersDad kills me with his comments on my blog. Excellent choices Zibbs.

  16. Sometimes I wish I still blogged. Wait, no, I meant logged, not blogged. I used to be a professional logger.

(I miss you, baby. Bubble Up indeed.)

Any time I need a laugh I go watch your weird-ass YouTube video about the nail salon.

  17. I know some of these, and you are right, they're definitely worth the read.
I think I'm a mommy-blogger of sorts, guilty as charged. I didn't used to be, but it seems the only thing I have time for these days is posting up photos of my grand daughter. I'm in a rut, I know it, and I'm trying to find my way out. My only excuse is that she's really, really cute.

  18. Holy crap Falwless is still alive!

I thought she was tied up in an extensive legal battle over copyright.

  19. Jesus Christ..it's a miracle...you're right Son of A T..Falwless showed up. Soooooo bittersweet.

  20. ....GOD I miss my Fawless. I wish she would reach out to me with an email.

  21. You're right about mommy blogs. I worry too that blogging is jumping the shark, and there are so many terrible blogs out there. Some of them, depressingly, are more popular than yours and mine combined.

    ReplyDelete
  22. A lot of bloggers left for Facebook and Twitter..neither suit me as well as blogging.

  23. Mr London Street- I think you're right.

  24. Ha! Loser! I met Sky Dad. I even got to honk his boobs. So there!

    :-P

As for the Mommy Bloggers, I'm sure they all feel the same way about YOU. Different people like different things. Tomato/tomahhhhto, right?

One question though: If you hate their kiddo blogs so much why the hell are you bothering to read them, Zibbs? Just walk away, man. Don't torture yourself. Jeez.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Some blogs are so shite you just can't help yourself. I'd better not name names.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Well, it's not a dirty picture, but here's a shot I took a while back. Don't go all passing it around and shit, promise?

You guys can always reach me through email if you just can't stand the distance between us. I've been told I give great email. Falwless at gmail dot com dot motherfuckingbadass. Minus that whole dot motherfuckingbadass at the end there.

  27. *shh* don't tell anyone but I think Mommy blogs are boring too!

Maybe if I had my own little Sally, or cute little Billy at whose antics I laugh at and want to share with the world, I'd think differently.

    But I don't.

    Thank God.
