I Bet This Scares The Hell Out Of You. Devil Stuff. Exorcist 3.

So my new good Blog/Twitter friend Kristen left a link to this post from the Exorcist 3 in the comments section of TBY.

Now for you babies and people with heart conditions, I don't think you should watch the clip because you may start crying or you may die. From heart failure. After you cry.

And it brings me to this question. How can someone NOT be into horror movies? I think the people that aren't are just babies*. Except for people that aren't into movies like Saw which are just junky, gore porn nonsense.

So here you go. Tell me if it scares you:

  1. AHHHHHH!

*clutches heart and drops to floor*

Naaa. I'm just kidding. I'm OK.

  2. Good horror films always boil down to suberb editing. It's why the first Exorcist remains scary to this day.

  3. Ok I turned the volume off and watched- and thought it was dumb. And I am one of those babies*.

I may be healing after all

  5. Mrs K - you HAVE to watch it with the sound!

Secretia - You my dear are very welcome.

  6. AH SHIT! I *almost* dropped the laptop and screamed loudly enough that my husband came running out of the bathroom.

That build up ... then BAM and every nastiness is left to my fantastical imagination.

I think the vast majority of horror movies are startle movies - someone jumping out yelling "booga booga" or splashing blood across white t-shirted boobies is not true horror. It's truly horror when after you've seen it, you can't go out on the back deck because the leaves scudding across the lawn gives you the shivers, or about pee your pants because you caught your reflection in the mirror as you walk by. When you're still scared weeks later, that's horror.

  10. My heart races too high, too fast to watch horror. This one is a good example (even with the dumb "finale") .. The slow build up, the quiet, the expectation. I think my adrenaline pump has a hair trigger.

What I really hate are those goofy, loud ending scare hoaxes emails. I truly worry I'll have a cardiac event after one of those.

  12. I am one of those wimps. Whenever I am watching TV and come across Linda Blair spinning her head around like an owl, I have to change channels. I can usually handle a scary movie if it is suspenseful but I really don't care for the gore fest movies.

  13. It didn't scare me too badly, but I did still very much enjoy the delicious anticipation of something just horrible about to happen.

  14. Oh, great, I saw this right before I'm going to bed.

Word verf: skierim - Jim was afraid of running into the Yeti on the slopes, because he knew that it would skierim.

  16. okay, but how do you distinguish horror from gore porn?

  17. i admit I am a big wuss. I watched the exorcist when I was little and it scared the crap out of me so I can't watch them since (though I watched that clip with the sound off and it was not scary atall)

  18. yep, I'm a big pussy. I can't even make it past the title to press the play button.

  19. That's a good point. If you look at it with the sound down it's not too scary.

  20. ..and that's how I pooped my pants at work.

  21. I still find it scary with the sound down/off. Boo! And thank you for the mention, Dr Zibbs.

  22. I wet myself....a little. I'm still a man, damn it!

  23. HOLY SHEEEIT!! THAT is EXACTLY why I DON'T watch horror flicks.

The anticipation of the 'act' only makes me more scared.

Hey, the last horror film I saw was 'Blair Witch', and that was quite enough.

But in your honor, I may have to rent Exorcist 3 this year.

  24. Laszlo Brown - the dirrence between horror and gore porn is that gore porn is just filled with torture.

  25. I give it a 6 on the old scaremeter. The final 10 minutes of "Paranormal Activity" gets a 10.

  26. Just Dave - agreed. I saw that movie. Pretty scary.

  27. I'm one of those people that don't like horror movies. But that's only because they have a higher failure rate than any other genre. I like the good ones, but that's about 1% of horror movies.

This is a pretty scary scene, but that movie is godawful.

  28. WWW - It would be great if some really great directors did some horror films wouldn't it?

Silence of the Lambs is one of them even though it's not really a horror film.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Most of my favorite horror films aren't technically horror films. Like "Silence of the Lambs" and "Alien".
