My leg has been killing me. I've been limping around for a month. So I got an MRI today and the doctor said I probably have this rare disease called Transient Osteoporosis. It's a rare disease that effects men 30 - 60 years old and women in their 3rd trimester of pregnancy.
How random is that?
The good news is that it will cure itself. The bad news is that it could take a year and I'm in major pain. AND I can't exercise while I have it. AND I have to be on crutches or walk with a cane for at least a month. This sucks.
I guess I won't be dancing like the Nicholas Bothers for a while:
Aww, Zibbs! I'm sure you can find a sweet cane in the meantime. I'm sorry about your condition, that's really a shame. I'm glad it's temporary.
ReplyDeleteAt least you're not pregnant. That'd be way more awkward.
ReplyDeleteSpeedy recovery, chap.
Kimmie - I feel like the skull top walking stick post is coming back to haunt me but thanks.
ReplyDeleteKrisine - Thanks too.
I thought transient osteoporosis was something only hobos got.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you're in pain, Z. A year's a long time - hopefully it'll clear up much earlier than that.
Zibbs, that really blows. Sorry to hear that.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about you being in pain, but on the plus side, you get to rock the skull walking stick!
ReplyDeleteAnd... you get to order your minions around.
Get a handicap parking permit!
ReplyDeleteI can see you working the cane look - the Chaplin of blogland, perhaps. Or a TBY branded Zibber frame?
ReplyDeleteZimmer. I meant Zimmer.
A Dr with a cane eh?
ReplyDeleteAre you House?
There has _got_ to be a skull-tipped swordcane somewhere around. OR maybe just a silver-tipped walking stick.
ReplyDeleteWow - my readers care.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear this Dr. Z...I felt so bad that I clicked on the Amazon Male Nurse Action Figure ad in your sidebar. Maybe you can use the money you get for that for vicodin!
ReplyDeleteps...vicodin and vodka make for a lovely combo...so I've heard...
Sorry to hear that you're in pain. But the upside is that it's temporary. Do the docs know what you can do to avoid it happening again?
ReplyDeleteGet some rest.
Thanks Peggy.
ReplyDeleteDedene - once it goes away is supposed to never come back. Except in rare incidences it can happen on the other hip.
surely being a Dr you should have self-diagnosed this ages ago? :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I can totally see you wirh a pimpin cane. The ladies love a man with a pimpin walk!
Miss H - that's the angle I'm going with.
ReplyDeleteLike the rest of the gang, I'm sorry for you zibbs.
ReplyDeleteAwesome video.
Thanks Diane.
ReplyDeleteDang Zibbs...sorry to hear that. What a bizzaro disease to get. But then again I would expect nothing less. Hang in there. I'll be back to visit soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks H.
ReplyDeleteI just found out last month that I have this bizzare disorder too. I had a pregnancy then shortly after his birth got so much hip pain that kept me limping if I could walk.
ReplyDeleteHow are you feeling now? Has your pain calmed down? Have you had any damage left by this disease?
Dawn - hope you're feeling better. It took a few months but I'm 100% cured, no limp, no cane. It was really weird and I feel really fortunate that it wasn't a long time thing.
ReplyDeleteDr. Zibbs,
ReplyDeleteThat is such a encouragement that you are healed! I am glad to hear you are no longer limping & using cane or in pain.
I was given pain meds & am using a cane. Doctor also put me on a Osteoporosis medicine hoping that will help too.
Thank you for replying & again I am happy you are healed!
