Jackie Rogers Jr Will Get You Every Time. SCTV.

Before there was Austin Powers there was The Incomparable Jackie Rogers Junior from SCTV. Here's a video that someone put together with his great performances.

Were any of you fans? Hmmm?

Seriously. You need to sit through this. Or fast forward to the 7 minute part.

  2. THere is soooooo much about SCTV that was pure TV genius. John Candy was unrivaled.

That's it. I'm spending the rest of the night finding as many SCTV clips that I can.

Martin Short was pretty dang funny too.

  4. Huge fan. But nothing rivals Short's Ed Grimley from SNL circa 1985.

  5. I love Jackie Rogers Jr., but I think it is an acquired taste. You can see glimpses of Ed Grimley whenever he dances.

  6. I've been thinking about SCTV a lot these days, mainly because I know Bob and Doug's version of the 12 Days of Christmas better than I do the traditional.

  7. Paige, you couldn't be more wrong. SNL is and was hacky at best. The Ed Grimley character is a perfect example - on SCTV, Grimley was fleshed out with good writing that took the character to interesting places; SNL took an already complex character and made him static and two-dimensional.

  8. Martin Short.

When THIS is the peak of your career, there's no wonder why you cry yourself to sleep.
