Marcia Wallace. Never forget. This look - when she was on Match Game.
She hasn't died or anything but I saw her on the Game Show Network when I was flipping the channels the other day and was afraid that people may have forgotten what her look was. Imagine the rejected styles,
"You want me to wear that? And go on television?"
The horror that was the 70's.
Hey, can you tell me who does the voice of Mrs Puff on Spongebob?
ReplyDeleteI remember her best from The Bob Newhart Show, she played his secretary. She dressed like a nut then too.
ReplyDeleteRachel - I'll phone you with the answer.
ReplyDeleteI'm fairly sure her fashion sense hasn't much improved but she's always been quite a brilliant part of teevee.
ReplyDeleteShe was on the Newhart show, the early one, right?
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA!! Zibbsy-you crack me up!
ReplyDeleteMarcia Wallace-yes she was Bob's receptionist on the original Bob Newhart show but I loved her on the Match Game.
You need to do a whole post on Match Game and their zany cast of characters!! Loved that show.
Remember all the scandolus sexual innuendo that went on!! Good times
It looks like she's appearing in a production of "Rocky Horror Picture Show" as Dr. Frank-N-Furter after the taping and she's pressed for time so she already did her makeup.
ReplyDeleteWhat, you don't like big red afro hairdos and off the shoulder dresses on a trannie? What's wrong with you, son, you some kinda commie?
ReplyDeleteYou scared me!! I totally thought you were going to say she died. I don't know why that bothers me to think so since I haven't given her a thought in about seventy five years, but it did.
ReplyDeleteShe's more colorful than I remembered!
Holy shit. I loved her back then. And I'm realizing how old I am. Shit.
ReplyDeleteI think she looks fucking fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI think I saw her on "The Young and the Restless" the other day. swear it was her...
ReplyDeleteI saw her recently on a Brady Bunch episode. She was the store clerk who sold Jan the big black afro wig when Jan was trying to be her own person and less like "Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!"
ReplyDeleteShe was on screen for about 90 seconds and still managed to be funny.
Vic - don't be scared
ReplyDeleteCary - I totally forgot she was on that episode!
I've got three words for you. Charles. Nelson. Reilly.
ReplyDeleteNuff said.
Or not. The Match Game was frickin' priceless. Between the bad 70s clothes, the smoking (wah?) and the drunks (shall I pour you another, Brett Somers?) it was destined to be a instant classic.
The worst part is that she probably thought she looked sexy
ReplyDeleteI still think she was the best thing about the Bob Newhart show.....that and the fact that Suzanne Plishette gave me a woody.....
ReplyDeleteRobin - I hear you with the CNR
ReplyDeleteAsk Alice - Agreed.
Bruce - double agree with the Suzanne P
My hair looked like that in the 70's. I think I had that top also.
ReplyDeleteSo what were YOU wearing in the 70's? Striped polyester pants with the white belt and matching white shoes?
I'm just sayin...
Funny you should mention her today. Mom was watching her soaps and I heard a familiar voice. I looked at the tv and said, "Isn't she that broad from the Bob Newhart Show?" Mom replied, "Yup, and as ugly as ever." lol!
ReplyDeleteI remember her!!!
ReplyDeleteJJ in LA - I like your mom.
