Remember Neil Diamond singing Sweet Caroline? When I played the clarinet in 3rd grade I had to learn to play Sweet Caroline.
Never could get it down. I faked the whole thing.
Here's how it's supposed to sound. So are you a lover or hater of Neil Diamond? I used to hate him but then realized how great he is. Embrace your cheesey side people.
And does anyone think Robbie Benson resembles him?
ReplyDeleteDon't lie.
Every home game at Fenway Park at the end of the eighth inning, the game stops so that Red Sox nation can embrace their cheesey side.
ReplyDeleteEvery home game.
Candy - I like their style.
ReplyDeleteWait. First you ask a question, then you tell us how to answer it.
ReplyDeleteMmmmm.
Sometimes when I listen to Neil Diamond I sort of like it for a second, but then I'm really embarrassed about that.
Hey, I never realized till now that he was kinda dreamy. Didn't he used to wear sequined jumpsuits too?
ReplyDeleteWIN!
Hands, touching hands, touching me, touching you.
ReplyDeleteI have his greatest hits.
I ooze cheesey.
peace

I want to see video of YOU playing this song. Neil's a fag.
ReplyDeleteYou can't grow up with a mother like mine and NOT love Neil Diamond. "Cherry Cherry" is my fave track of his.
ReplyDeleteAnd ... Clarinet? Really?
See, now I'm imagining you as Acker Bilk ... which is totally ruining my fantasy!
If lovin' Neil makes you cheesy, then I'm the cheesiest! I went to 2 of his concerts, in high school and college. He's the reason I missed that whole Disco fiasco...and I'll always be grateful to good ol' Neil for that.
ReplyDeleteAnd he does NOT look like Robbie Benson!!! *shudder*
How did you fake playing the clarinet? Did you hum and hope no one would notice?
ReplyDeleteNeil has some bitchin' tunes. Like you said, you need to grow up and get over yourself to appreciate him. I'm just getting there now! :)
ReplyDeleteI refuse to accept my cheesy side, unless, of course, my cheesy side is cojack. Me loves cojack.
ReplyDeleteTold you we wouldn't be tied for long.
ReplyDeleteI love Sweet Caroline. It's one of my ringtones.
I also love Will Ferrell's paroldy of VH1 Storytellers Neil Diamond.
H.I.larious.
I couldn't stand Neil Diamond, until I heard his song on the soundtrack of some super cool movie that I can't remember the name of, it was just that cool.
ReplyDeleteDo you have a kazoo hidden inside of your clarinet?
So wrong it's so right !
ReplyDeleteHow did you fake that song...just move your fingers from time to time ? Hope you had some fellow clarinet players surrounding you to make it look 'real'...
The kazoo thing also makes sense...good thinking Diane !
Oh Zibbs...you played clarinet...please please tell us your Band Camp stories(American Pie Zibbs style)...we know you got some. (waiting in anticipation)
ReplyDeleteI not only was signing along, I made a few heads turn with my singing. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteAs for the clarinet, I only playedit in 2nd and 3rd grade. I hated every minute of it thanks to the jerk music teacher.
ReplyDeleteI love me a bit of Neil Diamond...especially 'Beautiful Noise' oh yeah
ReplyDeleteI totally embrace my cheese, Neil Diamond AND Barry Cantaloupe.
ReplyDeleteI love Neil. So smooove. My friend Rob and I went to see him once about ten years ago. When we walked in and saw the rest of the crowd was made up of old ladies Rob turned to me and said, "I think we brought the median age down by ten years."
ReplyDeleteWe ended up getting all the blue hairs in our row up and dancing and I almost had one lady convinced to throw her bra.
Good times. Love Neil.
I think Neil is great and he is from Brooklyn YO!!!!
ReplyDeleteI saw him last August in CONCERT!!!! In this video he is cute!!!!
I was 11 rows back when Neil played Woburn Abbey a few years ago. It was a gorgeous english summer night and he was sparkly shirted magnificence.
ReplyDeleteThe crowd was dominated by very loud, smoking, wearing very little, drinking Valpolicelle cask wine on the way into the concert (because the drinks will be so expensive when they get there)I saw a lot of rhinestones that night...
ever been to the boardy barn in hampton bays? their theme song is sweet caroline and i think it plays every 90 minutes. best place to go for getting warm beer spilled on you and singing along to cheesetastic classics.
ReplyDeleteI used to love Neil Diamond - way back...
ReplyDeleteNeil was my first concert. Love him.
