I heard about it on Monday from a blogger who said her building was evacuated because of it.
I can't even imagine how I would feel if I had been in the city that day. Firing that idiotic person is letting them off easy.
They should be brought to Ground Zero so they could be punched in the mouth by every person who suffered psychological trauma at seeing what looked like a commercial jet accompanied by fighter jets flying so low over NYC.
Whoever does get fired for will probably receive a nice fat compensation package. I wish I could get a job like that, quickly prove my incompetence (I doubt it would take long) and walk away with big bucks.
I'm hoping SNL comes up with a skit surrounding the meeting where some dipshit thought this was a good idea, except maybe instead they should have it crashing INTO the Statue of Liberty while the fighter plane is shooting it down. What a great photo-op!
No doubt! How about...The person who authorizes tens of thousands of dollars in tax payer expenses incurred by ridiculously pointless photo op of air force one should be fired.
on bigger news... I tried to call you on my 'artsy' retro ROTARY phone and I mis dialed the last number and had to start again. Needless to say I lost the excitement and changed my mind... LOL
Heard somewhere at Andrews Air Force Base...."So Colonel, I guess we're NOT going to enter the photo we took of Air Force 1 over the Statue of Liberty into the base Phone Book cover contest?"
I know who authorized that. It was my mother-in-law.
ReplyDeleteOh, I thought you said fired AT. Nevermind, she doesn't even have a job.
Amen.
ReplyDeletePure stupidity on a grand scale.
Completely ridiculous. I cannot even wrap my head around ANYONE, EVER thinking it was a good idea...
ReplyDeleteor that it couldn't have crossed their minds that people would be freaked out????!!!!!!!
c'mon... i'm not buying it. there isn't a person in this world who wouldn't have thought about 9/11 when making plans to fly a plane so low over NYC!
I can't believe this was for a PHOTO OP. I totally would have freaked out if I'd been there!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think I remember something in the news that might have indicated this was a bad idea.
ReplyDeleteTotally stupid, stupid, stupid! I vote for firing!!
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine how this must have made people feel.
ReplyDeleteI'd say you're probably right on this one.
I heard about it on Monday from a blogger who said her building was evacuated because of it.

Fucking ridiculous.
Yeah, that was pretty short-sighted. I wonder how many people peed a little.
ReplyDeleteProbably right? C'mon Sass.
ReplyDeleteIf they wanted a real photo op, take it down low over the Hudson, yeahhhh, that would have been sweet!
ReplyDeleteTHEY knew it was Air Force One-WE didn't... What idiots...
ReplyDeleteSTOOOOOOOOOPID. That's my verdict.
ReplyDeleteJeez, where the hell was I? I didn't see it or even hear about it.
ReplyDeleteIt's just as bad that someone flew a jet that big and flanked it with fighter jets just to have its picture taken. That ain't cheap.
ReplyDeleteWhat are the odds of that happening the same day swine flu doubled in NYC? Talk about an evil way to switch the focus, those sons of b*tches.
ReplyDeleteBeckeye - you were probably watching AI,
ReplyDeleteWWW - the cost was $320,000. I'm not kidding.
Whoever does get fired for will probably receive a nice fat compensation package. I wish I could get a job like that, quickly prove my incompetence (I doubt it would take long) and walk away with big bucks.
ReplyDeleteI hear you Pru.
ReplyDeleteAnd for anyone reading this, click on Prunella Jones's link to read her blog post today.
I almost fell off my chair it's so funny.
Somebody needs to be kicked in the nuts.
ReplyDeleteScary and ridiculous and uncalled for!!!
ReplyDeleteMakes me upset to call myself a person who lives in NYC who could have conceivably been witness to it and been scared out of my bejesus!!!
Yep!!! STUPID!
FAIL.
ReplyDeletePlus the state of North Carolina is making me take a pay cut.
Today the government is screwing me up the ass, and not in the way that I like.
Big time stoopit, I agree.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree with you on Pru's post. That was the funniest thing I've read in a very long time.
Pearl
Dropping bombs outside NYC could also be called a photo op... Where will it all stop?
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping SNL comes up with a skit surrounding the meeting where some dipshit thought this was a good idea, except maybe instead they should have it crashing INTO the Statue of Liberty while the fighter plane is shooting it down. What a great photo-op!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the shout out, Zibbsy.
ReplyDeleteHow about putting up the link to your Electric Boogaloo post? I gotta read that.
You know how I feel about this. Pure hypocrisy.
ReplyDeleteA "post Earth Day" $320,00 unnecessary, fuel burning, panic causing, debacle.
TO GET A PICTURE!!!
No doubt! How about...The person who authorizes tens of thousands of dollars in tax payer expenses incurred by ridiculously pointless photo op of air force one should be fired.
ReplyDeleteYep saw it outside of my office window...
