Longwood Gardens. Smells. Flowers in Chester County. Concerts.

Posted by Picasa

YO LADY! Get the hell out of my backyard!!! Just kidding. That image above is from Longwood Gardens in Southern Chester County. It's a world class garden in Chester County. The Duponts used to live there mind you.

Rich SOB's.

I was there the other week and thought I'd share the images with you.

And do you see what flowers in the front? Hyacinths. They're probably my favorite smell in the world. Whenever they're in bloom I cut them and put them in my car because I like the smell so much. I wonder if they make a perfume with that stench because I would totally start to make out with some chick if she wore that. Unless it was some old bat. Or a butterface chick....or....OK I'd be selective but you know what I mean.

What's your favorite smell? And don't say my pits.

And here's another picture:

Wow! It's a stage at Longwood Gardens. They've been having concerts there. How great would it be to see a concert in this paradise? Rufus Wainwright, Etta James and Boz Scaggs are all scheduled to be there soon. I like all three of them. Why don't you buy me a ticket and take me there? I'll totally do it.

Except you smuggle in the weed. I'm way too important for the big house unless I can be like the wiseguys on Goodfellas and be able to make my own food. And I would totally do the shaving garlic deal with the razor blade. You'll see.

And lastly, as a celebrity I was invited to attend an important event there in May. I'm still deciding whether to go. We'll see.

  1. And by the way that isn't my thumb in the upper left photo.

I sometimes wear a mask made of human skin when I go out in public to keep the crowds from flocking to me.

I think it needs to be adjusted a bit.

  2. -5 points for saying you like how a flower smells.

    +5 for later mentioning 'Goodfellas.'

That was a close one, Zibbs. Close one.

  6. Is there a flower that smells like bacon?

And not turkey bacon, either. REAL bacon.

    Fuck the swine flu.

  7. Greta said she likes the smell of bush! Haha

Okay but pretty pics Zibbs. Even with the thumb in it and all. I like the smell of my nonnas house. It always smells like food.

  8. If, of thou mortal goods,
    thou art bereft,
    And from thy slender store
    alone to thee are left
    two loaves,
    Sell one,
    and with the dole,
Buy hyacinths to feed the soul.

Hyacinths are my favorite in early spring. When they are finished I switch to lilacs and when the lilacs are done I fall in love with peonies. I never realized it until this year but over the years I've planted a garden designed around fragrance. There is always something in bloom that smells amazing. You should come smell my garden sometime. ;)

  11. I have to go with lilac bushes for the smelling contest...

That looks like an awesome place to see a concert...we have something similar here but I've never been...for sure going to do it this summer.

I can't even imagine what a stoned Dr. Zibbs would be like.

  12. My favorite smell is the vanilla perfume that every stripper wears.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Avon used to make a hyacinth that was spot on, they probably still make it.
My favorite scent was Hawaiian White Ginger, but Avon discontinued that one years ago and no one makes it like they did. I hope this helps.

  14. We have Meijer Gardens, that bring in talent, and hold open air concerts. Saw George Benson, David Byrne, and a couple others for cheap.. Bring your own food, gotta buy the beer and wine from them- but sounds similar to what you do..

  15. Mich - thanks for the info and for stopping by my blog.

  16. I love the smell of honeysuckle. And then lilacs. I tried to grow a lilac bush, but apparently they don't like the desert much.

    Beautiful gardens in the picture!

  17. I'll take you to the Rufus Wainwright concert, I've wanted to see him play live for years. You're buying the drinks n stuff though.

I like the smell of freesias and also that sexy, kinda musky smell guys have when you nuzzle their necks.

  21. My favorite smell isn't actually a smell, it is the complete absence of odor you get from way high up in the mountains.

  22. Lady?

    LADY?!

I go for a stroll in some nice gardens and get labelled a lady?!

    Dammit.

I suppose I was feeling feminine that day.

  24. Mo - I didn't mean that you look like a lady. I was talking about that lady right down there....Oh that is yo....

    Uh Nothin'...

  25. Oooh, Etta James! If I offer sexual favours to a roadie to get tickets, can I come?

And my favourite smells are lavender, myrrh, vetiver, starburst lilies and creosote.

  26. My favorite smell in the whole wide world is the smell of sunscreen, the breeze off the lake, and...believe it or not...boat exhaust.

    I can't explain it.

It's an aphrodisiac. Total turn on.

    I'll stop now.

  27. I love the smell of cinnamon. Can't get enough.

But I also love the smell of Windex. Go figure.

  29. No one else has said it? Really? Favorite smell?.....napalm....in the morning? Hellooo?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I love the smell of napalm in the morning.

What? Someone had to go there, ya bunch of wussies.

Actually one of my favorite smells is my dog...mixture of sweet grass and fritos. Go figure.

Hey Zibbs...good to chat with you the other night.

  32. I love hyacinths, lilacs, lily of the valley and something that grows in the woods that I can't ever find but I did find some candles called mountain mist that smell just like it.

  33. I can't believe that the girls didn't tell you that Mich is actually me in disguise. Yep, it's just another facet to being computer challenged.

  34. I love the smell of Night Blooming Jasmine. And I'd love to see Boz Scaggs. Take a mini-recorder in with you and send me a copy, okay?

  35. Re: Girl I's comment - I love Old Spice on my man, but I called it Old Spit as a kid because it reeked on my dad.

And I love the smell of the air before/during a rainstorm.

    ReplyDelete
  36. haha @ Mo :P

Yes you do, Dr Z ... but it's not musky like a badgers bum ... its essence of man and it's totally hot!

    So now you know

  37. Orange blossoms. It's like catnip.

I saw Rufus Wainwright in concert at the Belly Up bar in Solana Beach. Great venue. Small enough to really see but big enough to have a great crowd. But my friend and I were definitely the minority there. Why do gay guys have to be good looking? The bar had a good place to stand to see everything. What more could you ask, Rufus and Jack and coke?

  38. I love it when a man smells like he's been grilling outside. Man + grilled meat smell = sexay times.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I like arabian jasmine/sampaquita. Except I have bad allergies and whenever I really have the chance to take a good whiff it is inevitably followed by "ACCCHHHOOOO!"

    well worth it tho!

  40. First we have pot smoking Jesus, now Dr. Zibbs is a stoner?? I think Zibbs would be more in touch with his following if this subject is explored a little further. The kid that "found" the "napkin" was probably some stunt double. All part of some elaborate plan. Maybe...

  41. In the garden, gardenias. Heavenly.

Best comment to an anon I've seen thus far!

  42. I am very much with you on the hyacinth front...mine bloomed on Friday, and my 5 year old went CRAZY for them.
Today I was super pissed at the dog for laying near them and bending some of the stems, and then said "Eff it" and pulled out the bent stem ones and put them in a little vase inside. SO pretty, and the house smells so great I don't even have to pretend to clean.

  43. Longwood gardens is beautiful indeed. I never miss an opportunity to go there.

    Hyacinths and Lilacs for me.

  44. I like the smell of bacon in the morning. It smells like victory...or breakfast. One of those two.

  45. Just about any fresh flower does it for me. And tell me the Etta James date and I'm there! But you have to pay. And figure out how to get me there.
