What the? Some 74 old lady was attacked by a pack of raccoons in Florida. (See story here)
This is the story I heard this morning when I woke up and turned on The Today Show.
Now the reality is pretty horrifying and maybe you'll think I'm a mean person but it had me cracking up. The report from Florida was like something you'd see on SNL. They showed the actual pack scurrying in front of a house.
I guess what really got me laughing was that the old lady opens the door to shoo the raccoons away when the "gang of raccoons" attacked her. They said once she fell, they enveloped her.
I really do hope she's OK but..you know...the visual is pretty funny.
..I'm just thinking. Maybe she was covered in banana peels and garbage which would mean that she really brought on the attack herself. Wouldn't it?
ReplyDeleteWow, this almost seems made up. But I have known you don't mess with racoons since I worked at a group home in college and racoons would camp out on top of their garbage cans and hiss at me when I walked past. I never made eye contact and certainly didn't do any shooing.
ReplyDeleteKristen - please post photos. If you don't have any, please draw a picture.
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA! I just might.
ReplyDeleteAll I can think of is the raccoons from The Great Outdoors.
ReplyDeleteMaybe she smelled like a garbage can.
...and now I see you already made the garbage can joke earlier.
ReplyDeleteCurses.
Did they carry her to the stream and dip her in the water before biting her?
Hahahahahaa at NJenks!
ReplyDelete..and by NJEnks I really mean MJenks..
ReplyDeleteDid the racoons also throw gang signs and "tag" her house?
ReplyDeleteThat's why they wear those bandit masks.
ReplyDeleteI think the woman probably did something to deserve it. You can't flip off a gang of raccoons without any repercussions.
ReplyDeleteThat's what Grandma gets for using Hefty bags.
ReplyDeleteWe're having raccoon problems too. Monday night, mom went out to bring the cat food in (raccoons love cat food) and one was on the table eating. It didn't leave til mom threw a shoe at it. She's 74 and that story could easily happen to her but she's careful.
ReplyDeleteAnd about a year ago, a saw a raccoon on our washing machine (there's a milk door on the service porch) eating the cat food that she'd already brought in!
If she didn't run a mile with the raccoons attached to her like the fox lady did (http://wendybrandes.com/blog/2008/11/foxy-lady/) I'm not impressed.
ReplyDeleteWendy - do you know what this calls for?
ReplyDeleteYup. A raccoon attack broach
So I couldn't figure out a way to post a photo on here, but I did on my page (warning: they're pretty, pretty scary):

I saw a drunk woman almost get attacked by a pack of raccoons about two weeks ago!

I thought this story was HILARIOUS too! It's just one of those times in life where you WISH you were a witness to the actual event.
ReplyDeleteRaccoons: "We'll get you old lady...and your little dog too!"
We haven't even got raccoons, let alone senior citizen attack raccoons.
ReplyDeleteSo unfair . . .
The Jules - that's sad.
ReplyDeleteIt's reached epidemic proportions, I tell ya!
ReplyDeleteLady Vols basketball coach, Pat Summitt, suffered a similar fate: http://www.govolsxtra.com/news/2008/mar/07/summitt-hurts-shoulder-chasing-raccoon/
They aren't wearing those bandit masks to be cute. They're criminals. Where's my shotgun, Maw?
No lie. My friend's dog was attacked by a raccoon in her back yard last week. My friend had to grab a big board out of her garage and she beat the coon to death. Her dog was so messed up they had to put her to sleep. What the hell is happening??? BEWARE OF THE RACCOONS!!!
