I haven't smelled Vick's Vaporub in years! But I love the smell of it. It reminds me of when I was sick as a kid. I remember opening the jar and taking a big ole' whiff. You've got to admit it's got a pretty distinctive smell. I've been tempted to smell it. Maybe next time I go to a supermarket I'll open one up and get some smelling in.
And I just recently discovered now that it's Vick's VAPO rub and not VAPOR rub. Also, who the hell is Vick? They should have used Vick Tayback (Mel from Alice) on the label. Just sayin'.
OK. That's all I got for you.
I've had a cold for over a week now and I seriously just used Vick's VAPO rub last night...
ReplyDeleteTC - Really? Did you put it in a vaporizer or just whiff it?
ReplyDeleteI did....BOTH! I have a cheap ass vaporizer that really doesn't work very well but it's a bit of a nostalgia thing so I used it. I also "whiffed it" AND rubbed it on my throat. I don't know why.
ReplyDeleteOH and you can buy this baby mentholated baby bubble bath stuff for babies with colds that smells like Vicks too...
ReplyDeleteTC - I think I want to get one of those.
ReplyDeleteI miss the smell of band-aids, the kind that came in a tin. We bought some skull band-aids in a tin recently, but they just don't have that old band-aid smell, anymore. :(
ReplyDeleteNerd Alert: The Vicks Family & Company Archives are down here in North Carolina (at UNC - Chapel Hill). It was started by a pharmacist.
ReplyDeleteConfession: I've never smelled Vicks VapoRub.
I carry a VapoRub (I think it should be spelled "Vap-O-Rub") inhaler (think a big bullet with VapoRub in it) to help pop my sinuses open when I fly.
ReplyDeleteI use it right under my nose ; inhalation = 100%. Opens up the nose. Another tip. Just put a tiny amount of VapoRub on the tiles of your shower (a dot here and there) Then take a really REALLY hot shower. The hot steamy air will smell of VapoRub !
ReplyDeleteWill try it also when I move to my new home ; it has an infrared sauna. You get real sweaty in there ; maybe I'll just put a small cup with water and VR in it to see what it does. I'll keep you updated.
Scope - I've never heard of this product.
ReplyDeleteDominica - that sounds like a weird procedure I would perform.
ReplyDeleteyou rub it on the chest... you just aren't mixing with the right women if you are not smelling it :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the smell of Windex.
ReplyDeleteThat's all I've got.
