Philly Beer Week. Beer Calendar. Chester County. This Weekend.
So March 6 - March 15 is Philly Beer Week. There are 693 events in Philly and the surrounding suburbs. I'm probably not going to be able to make it to all 693 events but I will make it to something.
If you take a look at my Amazon ads on the side bar I just put up the Joe Six Pack's Philly Beer Guide. Buy it from me and I'll get a tiny bit of the money. It's your way of saying thanks to me for writing this amazing blog. I'll also put you on the list of people I won't kick in the nuts when I meet you for being a glommer who reads my blog and doesn't pay me by buying shit. And while I'm on the subject, my blog reports are showing a slight dip on people that kiss my ass in the comments section. I don't want to have to mention this again.
And onto the subject of beer. If you ever meet me, three beers that you can buy me that I'll never turn down are Guinness, Corona (I know - boring but refreshing) and Victory Beer's Hop Devil. Write yourself a note so you remember.
And here are a few local beer links: Seen Through a Glass and West Chester Beer Consortium
What are your go-to beers?
Guinness, Becks, Yuengling when I'm having more than 9 and Warsteiner.
ReplyDeleteI could never limit myself to one or three types of beers, but I cannot imagine life without the occasional Guinness.
ReplyDeleteDark beer is the best ever! Just say no to light, it's for people who just enjoy peeing a lot.
ReplyDeleteI love all beers, from hand crafted stouts to cheap domestics. I love them so much, I write a blog about them.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to know about the three I would never turn down, they include:
1.Guinness- Anyone who turns this down is a bonehead or a recovering alcoholic.
2.Red Stripe- I love it and drink it whenever I get the chance. It's just yummy.
3.Pabst Blue Ribbon- As I am at heart a poor hillbilly with limited funds and uncultured tastes.
Doc
Doc - I'm with you on the PBR pounders.
ReplyDeleteI'll tell you what I tell everyone who tells me to kiss their ass...
ReplyDelete"Only if I can use my tongue."
So far, I haven't had to kiss anyone's ass.
I don't like the Canadian Guiness but I did enjoy the one in Belfast. (You might not know they change the recipe in different places). My husband says the one in Dublin is the best.
ReplyDeleteI have trouble with some beers because there is something that some brewers add that gives me instant full blown migraines with nausea - that lasts 24 hours. So I'm not overly adventurous for obvious reasons. I do love Corona and generally, any Labatt's product because they're safe for me. There are some micro-brews and importeds around that are also ok. I dislike intensely sweet and wheat beers.
Guiness and Corona -- you're my type of drinking buddy. I can never resist those two.
ReplyDelete3 beers and I lose 100 IQ points.
ReplyDeleteI think the motto for your week has to be: Pace Thyself.
May the force be with you.
How can I possibly kiss someone's ass who drinks Corona? Red Stripe, mon! Red Stripe!
ReplyDeleteThis is GREAT information! It's my girls weekend in downtown Philly next weekend - 13th - 15th and we are pumped! Nothing better to hear than beer activities. And guess what...we MIGHT make it to all of 'em! After spa day that is... Whooo HOOOOO! I'll buy you a guinness if I see someone with blue face paint walking around, k?
ReplyDeleteJJ - sounds good. I'll meet you half way in Kansas.
ReplyDeleteSusan - I'll be looking for you.
Zibbs, you know very well they won't let me back into Kansas after the incident...with the cattle...and the probes. How about Tijuana instead?
ReplyDeleteBeer week?
ReplyDeleteI need to tell #1 about this.
Kiss your ass??
I dont think Big F would appreciate that.
peace

I tried the Guiness in Dublin; it still tasted like hairspray to me. But, I'm not a fan of beer. I do like a tall, cold Strongbow cider.
ReplyDeleteYUM! GUINNESS!!

Gwen - you don't drink beer? Huh?
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm off to the Sussex Beer Festival in the next week or so, but I can drop a few names off if you like.
ReplyDeleteIf you're ever in Sussex then you must check out the Dark Star beers.
http://www.darkstarbrewing.co.uk/opdarkstar.htm
My favourite being the Hylder blonde (Elderflower).
Another Sussex great is Harveys.
I LOVE both German Weissbier, and you MUST try Schneider Weisse. This is at its very best on a mountain top after skiing.
Belgian beers are awesome, the best thing in the world is to go to a proper Belgian beer haven in, say, Bruges, and ask them to pick you out some. Leffe is nice, especially Radiuse (red cap), but there are some nice Belgian ones out there.
But I do like Guiness too. If your ever over here I'll point you to a pub which will do a 13% stout...
Apparently two guys had three pints each of the stuff once. I doubt they had it again!
My go-to beer right now is Molson Canadian. Labatts is my back-up.
ReplyDeleteWhen I go to Chicago I get PBR. I used to drink Old Style, but ever since they got bought it it makes my stomach all gurgly.
That said, there are few beers I wouldn't drink. I like most of them. I'm not crazy about fruity beers, though.
