As an English man and one that works (even if I don't live) in good ole London town they only thing that any of us remember about him is that utterly bleeding awful cockney accent in Mary Poppins! Holy Cow! Good comedy actor maybe but accents not his strong point.
A mate of mine - born in Florida, lived a long time in New England came to work for me in England at one point for a year. I was taking him on his first trip to London and he started to practice the accent based on Dick's vocal coaching... unbelievable - I nearly crashed the car with laughter... however he still pulled in the first pub even with that crap accent!
But how the hell doesn't he see it? It's right there!!
