Second Levon Helm Tribute. In My Top Ten Songs.

I know I just posted a Levon Helm song but I need to post another. This is another one from The Last Waltz. The Weight. This is probably in my top ten of favorite songs and my top live performance song.

Just tugs at the old heart strings don't you think?

OK. Come comfort me. This song seriously makes me tear up every time I hear it.

Talking Heads - Life During Wartime Excellent.

I know the Verdant Dude just posted this video on his blog a few weeks ago but I was listening to David Byrne while running and wanted to see this video.

It's the Talking Heads Life During Wartime. How cool is this performance? He's so weird it's great. I love his dance moves at the beginning.

Eddie Murphy On Michael Jackson. Tito Get Me Some Tissue.

So here's the classic Eddie Murphy bit about Michael Jackson. I saw him in Upper Darby on this tour at the Tower Theater back in the day.

It was hysterical.

Tito get me some tissue. Jermaine stop teasing.

Another Dream: The Beatles, Clapton and Springsteen.

So here's a dream I had last night that I'm totally not making up.

I was asked to drive The Beatles, Clapton and Bruce Springsteen to a concert on a bus. It was weird because the Beatles were the 1965 Beatles but Clapton and Springsteen were the modern day guys.

A friend was with me and we had to pull into a gas station to get gas. The Beatles were being really cool to us but they didn't want a mob scene so we were asked to "keep cool". One of them asked if we could put some of their equipment in trunk.

We were dying for someone to see who we had in the bus so as a lady was walking out of the convenience store part of the gas station I said really loudly,

"OK, Let's just put these guitars that we have from The Beatles in the trunk..guitars from the rock group - The Beatles - going into the trunk now....."

The lady came over and looked in. Paul came out and started making small talk. He then asked if I had taken acid. I said no and he pulled out a colorful post-it note that had a rip taken out of it. I told him that the rip was from where I tore it because I had to write a telephone number down and I needed a piece of paper. Which was true.

Paul said, "Oh it's just a post-it note? I thought it was a sheet of acid. Oh that's cool. I was just wondering if you were tripping."

Sorry, no funny punchline - just another real dream I had. They also jammed at one point and were playing a Herman's Hermits song but I forget which one. And Clapton was playing the drums. I swear.

Another Concert I Saw - Tom Petty

In my series of posting concerts I've been to, this was my second concert -Tom Petty in 1979 (Cheap Trick was my first). It was on the Damn the Torpedoes Tour and I saw him at the Spectrum in Philly. The opening band was TKO. Here's a video of him singing American Girl in 1978.

I Can't Weight For The Weekend. Get it? "Weight?"

I don't like to release posts too close to each other unless it's breaking news about me, but I need to get out of here and since it's Friday, I need to leave everyone with a song. It's part my format you see.

This song here is The Weight by The Band. It's from the movie The Last Waltz. If you haven't seen it, it's only the best concert film ever with performances by Neil Young, Van Morrison ,Neil Diamond and Bob Dylan among others. It's a classic. So play this loud and make sure to stop back over the weekend.

Elvis Costello - I Saw Ye In Upper Darby

Here's a vid of a young lad I saw in concert years ago at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby, PA around 1980. Elvis Costello. Seats in row 8 baby! Memorable moment? Friend loses binoculars and accuses all people around him of stealing them. Thanks to no binoculars, his just started bird life list remains at 2: The robin and the A-hole bluejay. Stupid Upper Darby thieves.

And as an added Elvis Costello bonus, check out his classic clip when he was on SNL. For that you lazy SOB's, you'll have to do the leg work. Give Netflicks or the YouTube a shot.
