Clash. London Calling Jimmy Jazz. Punk Songs.

Does anyone listen to WXPN? It's a alternative Philly station but it's also played in other markets.

Anyways, they're going to be featuring punk music all month long. Sweet.

I think I'll write a post and list my favorite albums of all time but I'll let you know one of them now. The Clash's London Calling. It came out when I was in 9th grade and I can still listen to every song today and love it. Of course back in the day I had it on vinyl and on cassette tape. Crappy, scratchy, gets eaten by your cassette player cassette tape.

And of course I had my trusty cassette tape carrying case. Remember those things? I just threw mine out a few years ago. It was hard to let go.

So in memorial of my cassette tape case, lets celebrate by listening to The Clash doing Jimmy Jazz live. Crank it up beotch!

Talking Heads - Life During Wartime Excellent.

I know the Verdant Dude just posted this video on his blog a few weeks ago but I was listening to David Byrne while running and wanted to see this video.

It's the Talking Heads Life During Wartime. How cool is this performance? He's so weird it's great. I love his dance moves at the beginning.

YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS. Corey Feldman Singing and Dancing.

I remember seeing Corey Feldman doing his Michael Jackson style dancing years ago and it was very, very hard to watch.

I just watched this and actually turned a bit red because it's so embarrassing. You've go to watch this whole thing.

And look at the lady at 36 seconds in. Is she thinking, "Oh my God, what a Michael Jackson rip off." or "Oh my God, I can't believe how great he is."

Also, note the move at 1:44. What the fuck is this???? I'm cracking up just analyzing this crap. Jesus Christ!

And if you can't watch this at work, check it out when you get home.

Norah Jones Little WIllies - I Love This Group

I love Norah Jones. She one of my favorite female voices of all time. If you haven't heard of The Little Willies, it's another group she's in with a bunch of her friends. I love every song on the album - which is rare. It's one of the albums I like to listen to on my ipod while lying in bed.

And like her other albums, it produced in a way that is perfect for listening to with headphones. Her voice is so smooth it just turns me to mush. Here she is performing live at The Living Room in NYC.

And this Friday send off song is dedicated to Greta, Morgan the Muse and Susan. Go check out their blogs and tell them Dr Zibbs sent you.

Johnny DeFrancesco Power Trio at the Note In West Chester

The Johnny DeFrancesco Power Trio is at Bam Margera's The Note tonight (Oct 18) in West Chester. I saw them at Vincents Jazz and Blues * on Gay Street a while back and they're a really good power trio, playing lots of Cream, Stevie Ray Vaughn and other great blues and rock.

The other bands playing are Monacy and The Sermon.

And as always, I'll be on the lookout for any bloggers. I may even introduce myself so make sure to hit an ATM beforehand because it's going to be very embarrassing for you when you want to buy me drinks all night and all that's in your pocket are a few coins, a paper clip and a Wrigley's wrapper. Seriously, have some self respect.

*Did you know that Joe Pesci sang at Vincent's in the early 1980's when he was the lead singer for a Jazz band? It's a fact.
**Upon meeting me, until notice is given, do not look me directly in the eyes. Also, use common sense and perhaps others to gauge my mood. Don't come on too strong and always remember that I like to guide the tempo, tone and pace of all conversations. Other than that - have fun with it!

Let's Get It On - If You Know What I Mean

Some of my more savvy readers are able to read between the lines when they hear Marvin Gaye singing, "Let's Get It On*." For those of you non hipsters who don't know what the hell he's talking about and don't have the time to painstakingly dissect the lyrics, I'm going to tell you. He's talking about having sex. Long, hot, steamy, "it's funny until someone loses an eye" sex.

I was thinking about doing a contest with this song and then getting it on with one of my readers and then when I worked out some of the details on paper I just couldn't justify it. Mostly because on the "Cons" side of my worksheet the large, circled words "Skanks" and "Dudes" was really starting to creep me out.

So anyways, enjoy this live Marvin Gaye clip from Montreux circa 1980. And don't forget to stop back over the weekend for some other great stuff happening at the old TBY.

*and speaking of "getting it on", by the looks of all that sweat, someone better be "getting him....a paper towel or washcloth."
