Carling Black Label, Pabst and Beers My Dad Drank. Commercials.

So NOW I know why my dad drank Carling Black Label Beer. He did later switch to Past Blue Ribbon. I remember bringing those dark brown, returnable bottles up from the downstairs fridge.

Sometimes he's let me pour the beer into the frosted glass. I'd love to watch the bubbles.

Other than the beatings, what memories do YOU have of your dad drinking beer?

Being from the Chicago area, my dad drank either Old Style or Old Milwaukee. I can remember him giving me sips as a child.

My father wasn't a beer drinker, my mother was. She drank Shafer, cause I guess it's the one beer to have when you're having more than one. My oldest sister married a guy who's last name was Shafer. Hmmmmm.

My dad was a Vodka man, and thank goodness he drank seldom and when he did, he just got happier.

I don't know my dad, but I'm guessing he drank something shitty.

We had an 8 foot bar, with a keg setup (no hard liquor), in our family room. Of course, ours was the "party house" throughout our high school years.

It was nothing to have the entire football team sleeping on the floor the morning after a game (car keys were given up). My dad would let me sip the foam from his beer but I can't remember why I liked it. I can't stand beer.

Being Belgian, I grew up in a country famous for beers.
Any tourist should try at least 3 beers down here ; maybe I'll do a post on beers once but have to admit that I have to ask anything about the subject at hubby.
I don't do alcohol ....
sorry ...

I don't know if my dad ever drank Black Label or PBR, but I sure did/do. Haven't seen Black Label since college, but I had a PBR just last night. Hells yeah!

My Dad drank either Kronenberg or Stella Artois. Thankfully the Stella, or "Wife Beater" as it's known in England, didn't compel him to punch my mother.

The IR - they should make a wife beater t-shirt with Stella on it. I'd buy it.

My dad's a Baptist deacon - never seen him drink beer, don't think he ever has. But I have seen my drunk uncle pop a Budweiser for breakfast.

PBR, Stag or Schlitz. He relented and let me have a whole beer when I was 12 thinking that I would hate it. Silly, silly man.

My uncle was such a drinker that my baby brother called him Uncle Beers. Good times!

Before we drove my dad to drinking just hard liquor, he drank Ballantine Beer. Awful stuff. Love that commercial.

Uncle Beers. I like that Gwen.

As for Ballantine, I never had that but had the beer can in my beer can collection years ago.

My dad always drank Schmidt's in the brown bottle or Schlitz cans. Schmidt's went out of business YEARS ago but then started brewing again just recently. I got him a six pack for Christmas and it was the joke of the day.

Sadly, none, my dad never drank. My parents also never divorced. Damn I lived a sheltered childhood, I was deprived of the wonderful things other kids have....sigh.

I've made sure my kids don't suffer the same fate. My youngest thinks his name is "Get me a beer, will ya?"

Damn, WWW and my father must have been drinking buddies. Schlitz with the pop top was the beer of choice before he beat us. Funny that my mother's mother from Ireland used to drink Ballantine Ale - warm only.

I've since tried to make them understand that drinking it warm was the only way she could make sure to keep her stash hidden, but they have such fond memories of her that they won't tolerate me makin' fun of me Irish drunken grandma!
