Deadheads Vs Parrot Heads. Which Are More Annoying.

I'll start by saying that I've seen both the Grateful Dead (three times) and Jimmy Buffett (two times) and had a great time at the concerts. And I've always had fun in the parking lot. PAAARRR-TAAAYY!

With that said, both hardcore Dead Heads and Parrot Heads annoy the hell out of me. The whole "look at me! I'm embracing this and I'm a part of the scene!" just gives me a major rash.  And I hate self proclaimed Deadheads or Parrot Heads that have to let you know, "I'm a total parrot head. I've been to 21 shows. I know every song." I don't give a s*%t buddy. So who is more annoying and why? Show your work.

Also, bonus points if you can name any other band follower names. By the way followers of Clay Aiken are called "Clay Nation."

(Look at that dude above. Arrogant nerd!)

I think I'd rather wear a tie dye shirt than a dollar store parrot hat on my head.

Oh and ICP has Juggalos of course. I want my bonus points.

Hmmm...what are hardcore Nickelback followers called again?

Nicksters? Backers? Oh yeah, I remember now - they're called douchebags.

What is a parrot head?

Guilty of being a parrothead. At least in the past. But for me, it was all about the shows. Once or twice or three times a year I would get into the redneck tropical vibe and get all phunky.

But I eventually grew out of it. Having seen dozens of Buffet shows, met the man and seen him play my favorite tune on Duval Street in Key West...well, let's say been there, done that, bought that fucking t-shirt. The last time I saw him was a Halloween show in Las Vegas around 6 years ago. Haven't wanted to see a show since.

I still phlock to Key West every now and again, but I'll pretty much walk out of any bar if Jimmy Buffett is playing in the background. I've moved on.

To answer your question...I'm not really annoyed by either. Listen to whomever you like, just don't throw it in my face and we cool. If it becomes your life and it's all you can talk about? OK...then both are annoying.

Doh! I knew somebody was going to be a parrot head.

And Earl, I'm like that with the Doors. I was a major fanatic in high school and now when a song comes on I have to turn the channel. Unless it's the Soft Parade or maybe a few other songs.

Suze - A parrot head is someone that follows Jimmy Buffet and wears ridiculous clothes like the guy in the picture.

Oooh, Zibbs - I'm totally like you with the Doors (and a lot like Earl with his opinion). Anyway, most people annoy me in general.

Sybil - I think I'm getting more annoyed with people as I get older.

I went to a bunch of Dead shows years ago (you know, when, like, Jerry Garcia was still alive?).. and at first, I thought the Heads were cool.. But after awhile, I realized a lot of them are just as greedy as any money trader.. They'd set up their tents and sell all their tee shirts, and their was a lot of profit going on. Grossed me out. Stopped listening to the Dead. Still have a bunch of old bootleg tapes.. You want them?

Never been a Buffet fan.

TC said...

Hey, I'm still waiting for my bonus points. Do you need my banking information or something?

Dr Zibbs said...

Kate - you can hold onto those tapes. And I really like about 25 percent of dead songs and am bored to tears by the rest.

TC - You win a bag of coins. Sadly they're all coins from Cansda. HAHA!!!...Oh wait. Youre from Cananda.

Never cared too much for The Grateful Dead or Jimmy Buffett (though Come Monday is some kinda good). Feel pretty uncool and out of touch enough to admit that I only learned a few days ago that The Dead used to pass around a basket of drugs for the concert attendees. No wonder (1) so many deadheads followed them from concert to concert and (2) they sang what a long strange trip it's been.

Dr Zibbs said...

Shrinky - They did that? The basket never came by me!
