Ban Deodorant People Need To Fire Marketing A-hole. Limited Edition Collectible.

I've never called for anyone to be fired but after reaching for deodorant this morning that's all changed.

I was out of my own deodorant so I was fishing around in the closet and found Ban Vanilla Scented Deodorant. I guess it'll be fine to wear for a day. I don't really smell so I only wear deodorant because I'm a very compassionate person and I don't want stinky people to feel different.

Well guess what's on the label of this vanilla scented Ban bottle? I'm not lying here. It says, "limited edition packaging"!!

How in the hell is this a selling benefit? How many levels of the marketing department saw this and thought it was a good idea to make it "limited edition"? I could see if it were in a train shaped glass bottle like those crappy Avon colognes but it's in the regular shaped plastic bottle.

Or maybe I'm missing something. Maybe I should hoard as many as I can and in fifty years I can bring a case of them on Antiques Roadshow.

"What you have here Dr Zibbs is a perfect vanilla scented Ban bottle. Notice how it's light green instead of dark green. I've seen pomegranate scented bottles go for $5000 at auction but I don't recall ever seeing vanilla. Congratulations."

"Wow. I could sell it but I guess the wise thing to do will be to keep it in the family as it's such a part of our family history."

I Wonder If Bloggers Would Pay Me For Advertising

So I told the blogger Tova Darling the other day I would write a post showing her Etsy stuff*. I like her and told her I would do it for free if she wanted. But it got me thinking that maybe I should reserve one spot on the sidebar for bloggers that want to promote something. Let's say it was Etsy products or Ebay stuff. Or someone just wanted to promote their blog or leave a big ass message on this life changing blog o'mine. Like a birthday message or marriage proposal for someone.

What do you think would be a fair price? $10 for a week? That's sounds fair to me. And I'm talking a big ole' spot like the size of H's condom covered fingers you see over to the right.

So..uh....does anyone want to promote anything?

*It's actually now on the sidebar of her site so check it out. And I don't want tons of freeloaders now coming out of the closet asking me to write posts about their stuff. Geeez. Have some respect. But if you do have stuff on Etsy feel free to leave a link in the comments because I would like to check it out. But please - no yarn and Popsicle stick art.

Blogger Proudly Announces Winners of Blog Contest

So originally I was going to have 1 winner for The That Blue Yak Google This Contest and 2nd and 3rd winners. Instead. Since the pictures I received were so great, I will be having 1 grand prize winner, which will be announced later today or tomorrow and 6 runner ups.

The contest rules were simple, to write "Google this: That Blue Yak" on something and send me the photo. I don't know about you guys, but when I tell people about my blog and I throw in the "blogspot.com", it just confuses people. So I just tell them to Google "that blue yak." It's much easier.

Enough of that. On to runner ups that will be receiving shitty prizes via mail. Please remember to email me your mailing address. Also, don't forget to click on each one to enlarge. And oh yeah. As I own the rights to these photos, I'm allowing all of my readers to do as they wish with them. I'm not kidding. If you want to print them out and tape them to your cars, safety pin them to your shirts, be my guest. It's my gift to you.

Here we go.

Katrocket with "Filmore's Hotel". Even though she told me it was real, I wasn't sure. I still love it. And note that it's a gentleman's club. Mmm hmmm. (Seriously Katrocket, is this a photo shop job?)

Meadowlark from Just Wandering Through - another new reader, she found my blog through Jennifer's blog. I love this one. Look at the skull and the proud gold man trophy, leaping..as if jumping toward a dream...both regally displayed atop a plain, brown cardboard box. I dub thee, "Dreams..Be it."

Fancy Schmancy - my good blog friend comes through with a creation I'm calling "Hungry Yak " AKA, "Sweet Yak..Let Me Come Hither Within Yawls Loins."

Ms. Florida Transplant from the blog Just a Girl...And Her Dogs - I like to call this simply, "The Beach." Rumor has is that the local authorities built huge sandbags around this masterpiece. Can you blame them?

My Blog Is About Nothing - This reader submitted "Kiss My Yak - the Gnome Files." This new reader really stepped up to the plate. Putting my older readers to shame. Making me realize that there are a lot of free loaders in this world.

Jennifer from Minnesota Vs Texas - a little number I like to call "Very Short Lady with a Tacky Hat Looking at Yak on Wall." Thanks Jennifer.

So there you go.

These are the runner up winners. As for the first place winner, I have to tell you that it is so great, so earth shattering and titillating that you will not believe it. I'm not making this up! I might as well make it my desk top picture because I've had to open the file and view it no less than 50 times.

Just wait. You'll see.

Phoenixville Pool Supplier Wins Hero Award

That Blue Yak would like to give this month's hero award to Phoenixville's Barto Pool and Spa for the courage to put a huge frickin' blue blowup gorilla outside of their business.

While neighboring businesses cowardly choose to announce sales with boring signs and banners, the fine folk at Barto use a big assed ape. Are they afraid that some customers might be afraid of the ape and not enter inside to see the potential discounts on pool and spa supplies? I do not know.

I'm sure there was concern that some potential customers might worry that there are more apes inside and their lives would be in danger if they entered. I'm sure the decision to inflate the "monster sale" ape was debated for months by the employees. ...we will never know. We also don't know if the Main Street business is getting pressure to remove the ape. We hope not - because as we all know, if you can't advertise spa and pool supplies with a big ole' balloon ape, the terrorists have won.
