One of My Favorite Loony Tunes Characters - Gossamer
One of the coolest things I got to do when I was in product development was watch cartoons. I was developing a line of Loony Tunes characters so a few times a week I'd wheel a TV into my office and watch Loony Tunes in search of poses for characters. I used to love passing the purchasing department and rub it in my saying, "Time to get to work."
Gossamer, although he was only in a few shorts, has always been a favorite of mine. Not because he had the best performances, but just because of his looks. Kind of like when you see a big nerdy fat guy that thinks he's tough and he's wearing a fanny pack and a shirt that says, "Looks Like Trouble" or "Heaven Don't Want Me And Hell's Afraid I'll Take Over". You just have to laugh (after pointing).
My other top Warner Brothers cartoon picks are Bugs, Daffy and Foghorn Leghorn.
My least favorite is Taz . It's not the actual character I hate, it's all of the douchebags that wear the Taz shirts, put the stickers on their trucks, etc. because they see themselves as having Tazmanian Devil traits. Real original.

Crap. I love Taz. I guess I'll go now and grab the razor blade to begin removing the Taz bumper sticker off my bumper. Just say'n....
Happy Snowy Monday and congrats on your NFL football win! Stupid Baby Manning.

i dig your yaking.

Fucoid -Blogrolling has been down for ages so I haven't added any blogs to my blog roll for months.
Well, well, well. You certainly are one interesting fella, Dr. Zibbs. Designing Gossamer products?!?! If your products were ever sold in the Warner Bros. Studio Stores, I very likely own serveral of them. My favorite is Marvin the Martian, but my second favorite is Gossamer. I have a sprawling Looney Tunes collection in top of my kitchen cabinets - and, yep, it's mainly Marvin and Gossamer (with a few Duck Dodgers figurines mixed in, of course!!). Did you ever design Pinky and the Brain items too? 'Cuz I cleaned out the WBSS of all their Pinky and the Brain items when they (sniffle) closed down.
You know what would be FANTASTIC? If you did a post showing some of your work! I'm sure I'm not the only one who is interested in seeing it. :-)
I had no idea this charactor had a name - so thanks for that. I love him (her? it?) in one of my favorite Bugs cartoons - My friends and I used to quote from it while we were getting ready for a night on the town:
An interesting monster needs an interesting hair-do, bobby pins please...
I am sorry. That dude creeps me out. He always has and probably always will.
All that fur? Why does it make his body look like that?
Weirds me right out.
I always loved Foghorn Leghorn!
I say I say I say loved him!
Bugs Bunny was always my hero and role model, followed closely by Foghorn Leghorn.
I didn't know this giant hairy heart thing had a name though. Gossamer? Weird.
i used to LOVE marvin the martian. and i didn't ever know that ones name... guess it's true you learn something new everyday!

Never liked Taz either. My favorite is the Coyote. I had a friend who wasn't allowed to watch Roadrunner because it was too violent. Her parents definitely were the aggressive-T-shirt-and-fanny-pack type.
Thank you!
I've been trying for a week to remember this character's name. You just saved what's left of my sanity! ;)
Never knew he had a name, but LOVED him in "Water, Water Everyhare."
I, along with many others it seems, had no clue he had a name.
I went to college with a girl who looked exactly like him.
I'm not kidding.
I like Gossamer a little less now that I know his name.
In my head I always called him the Hairy Scary Monster.
Sorry guys, but if we're talkin' Loonet Tunes, there's nothing better than Sam and Ralph!
My illegal likeness of Calvin is pissing on your illegal likeness of Taz, douchebags.
Best Looney Tunes ep: "What's Opera, Doc?"
I liked when Porky Pig went at Gossamer with a pair of sheers and discovered he was just hair and sneakers.
I can't stand Taz. He's like one rung above Calvin peeing on everything. I don't even know what it is about him that people are identifying with.
I like Bugs, Foghorn Leghorn, Yosemite Sam, Daffy, and that frog that sings.
Never even HEARD of that character.
I agree, Taz is pretty overdone.
Cora - maybe I'll do that.
To all of the new commenters today - Welcome to That Blue Yak!
Monsters are such interesting people!
I never knew that monster's name, but I always liked him. I especially liked when Bugs gave him a haircut and he had a wack high top or something. My favorite is also Foghorn Leghorn. That guy is funny.
And I could write an entire post about all of my douchebag friends who have a Taz tattoo. It's a close 2nd to the Fighting Irish guy for least original tat here in Boston.
Please, please do! That would be brilliant!
Ok this is scary!!!
Gossamer is my very very favorite of all times!!!!
I think i may have to go back to stalking you!!!

I was always a big fan of Foghorn Leghorn. He was such a ladies man!
I had a big red headed buddy in college that we nicknamed gossamer. So underrated
I will always love sylvester the cat, just love him
I am partial to Yosemite Sam.
My dad loves Foghorn Leghorn
I'm always the odd one out. I've never been a fan of Bugs and downright can't stand Foghorn Leghorn...but I LOVE TAZ! So much so that I bought a stuffed animal at a swapmeet (it was new, not some kid's castoff) in my late 20's.
I kept that thing for years...
OMG! I LOVE Gossamer! Especially when Bugs does his hair and nails. he looks hot with that center part.
My ex has a tattoo of Taz on his calf. Biting into a crumbling peace sign. 'Nuff said.
Ha-ha, that's funny. Taz is my sister's avatar, and since I'm pissed at her right now, I'm going to agree with the douchebag thing! Ha-ha.
I love Gossamer. I almost got a tattoo of him when I was in Florida a few years ago.
