West Chester JobCircle Car Cracks Up Blogger Everytime.

Posted by Picasa

Look at this miniature car that I see all the time in West Chester on Church Street. I mean - do you see how small that car is? I think it's called the Smart Car but I call it the Teensy Weensy.

Whenever I see these cars on the road as I travel around Chester County and the surrounding counties I always laugh and say to myself, "Please let there be a big fat guy in there, please let there be a big fat guy in there." And I speed up to catch a glimpse.

Kind of like on the episode of The Simpsons where Nelson is laughing at the small car and a tall dude gets out and chases him.

".....You think it's funny that I'm in this car? It's the largest automobile I can afford."

Yeah. It's kind of like that.

Haaaaaaha! I'm pituring you edging up, edging up, edging up, hoping, hoping, hoping to see the fat man in the car...

I'd love to meet the man who is undercompensating.

OMG. I do the same thing. Those cars are hilarious and I don't think I'll ever stop laughing at them.

I think it'd be funny for some big guy to drive around in one, pretending it's his just to amuse the rest of us.

I think Smart cars look like toddler shoes.

And the fat guy in the car also should be wearing big gold chains.

I dont' see a car...there's a car?

Vic - I think the same thing.

Jill - Let me go back and check..hold on.

..I'm back. There is one there. You have to look really closely.

Here in Europe you will see tons of those microcar(by the way, quite expensive for their size)..and considering we have to loose from 20minutes to half an hour looking for a parking or squeezing through ancients streets...those little things are great..
..now if you are a fat guy, the only thing you can do is to cut off the part underneath, wear the car and walk..(we have ridiculous limited speed inside cities)..

Raf - I used to see those cars all over Europe as well and it reminds me how I used to think how great Europeans are a parallel parking and most Americans suck.

I saw one of these cars fall down a drain once while the owner was trying to parallel park. Some passersby tried to save the driver but he drowned in the sewers. True story*.

PS: Today is my birthday. I'm nearly 30**.

*Not actually true.
**Actually true.

Every time I see one, the opening riff of this Three Dog Night goes through my head.

Tell me it's not just me.

There is a car dealership around here that got local news coverage because they had 12 of these suckers. All lime green. Bleh.

I haven't seen any of those in L.A. Probably because people here hate being laughed at.

I live in England so these cars are EVERYWHERE!! I call them shoes on wheels.

My husband drives a Festiva, which is not much bigger, and my car mechanic calls it "a throw-away". It's great on gas, though.

I also HATE those tiny cars! I could NEVER drive one of those. I would feel so claustrophobic!! Funny when you see people in them though! Makes me smile! :)

Bahaha - I started reading this post and thought immediately of that Simpsons post.
"Have you got a problem with my automobile?"
Or at least I think that's the quote!

We have those damn things all over here. I think they look like pregnant skateboards.

Megan said...

I'd drive it.

I've actually driven one, and the really bizarre thing is that there's quite a lot of room inside. It's quite a clever design, but it's weird having the back window right behind your head.

More room than in a 911, anyhoo . . .

You know Doc, I used to walk past that car everyday and always wanted to see if I could flip it over.

Scope said...

I bet you could. And I bet with the help of a drunk buddy, one of those might end up getting carried off and dropped in front of a fire hydrant.

I've seen that car, it looks like a baby carriage without handles. How smart could that car be in an accident?

I saw one of those cars a couple of weeks ago at the UPS Store. The lady got out of the car and somehow had managed to shove a large flat box behind the seat and the back of the car. I was laughing my ass of watching her try to pull it back out!

This is a vendor of my company, and I actually got to drive this very car.

Jealous?

I'm not a fat guy, but I will dress like one the next time i have the opportunity to drive it.

Dr Zibbs said...

LecNessMonster - please do. Thanks.

And thanks for checking out my amazing, award winning, West Chester, PA based kickass blog.

This is the JobCircle smart car - this is the first legally registered smart car in PA, and it is amazing that over 2 years later, we still get stalked in this thing everywhere we go. The gas tank holds 8.6 gallons, it is 60 hp 3 cylynder, and when you're moving 95 down the Beltway, you feel like you're going to lift off the ground! It was shipped in from Germany, converted by a company in California, and shipped to a dealer in Pittsburgh. We purchased it from this dealer. We had a heck of a time getting it titled and insured, since no one even knew what a smart car was!

Interestingly enough, this was a joint design venture by SMART watches and Mercedes. The name is "s"watch and "m"ercedes "art" and that is how the name was born...s-m-art.

We've got tons of other pics and even a crash-test video at http://jobcircle.com/public/smartcar - thanks for noticing, and if you or anyone you know is looking for work, remember that JobCircle.com is the smart career choice!
