WCOJ Is Forever Gone - Closed - Chester County Mourns

WCOJ - we hardly new ye'. It's a sad day in Chester County folks. WCOJ, the West Chester radio station that has been broadcasting since 1952 has been sold to Holy Spirit Radio and will begin airing Catholic programming shortly.

And I have a confession to make. The "special person" that used to call in as "Marty from Downingtown" on the Early Edition with JT was indeed me - Dr Zibbs. Thanks for the memories WCOJ. Goodbye JT Morgan, Robert Henson, Mary Bigham, Ron "Swap Shop" O'Neil and the commercials of Pipe Xpress and Brenda's Vac Shop. I'm gonna miss ya. Let's all do lunch real soon.

I guess that leaves me only one choice. Start working on my imitations of the Devil and Jesus for the calls I'll be making to the new station. I feel it's my duty.

For God's sake, learn how to record your phone calls and post them on TBY so we don't have to listen to 1420.

(random bolding just like you.)

Much as you're usually the first person to comment on blogs, you need to be the first to call the new station. That's when you ask them to pray for the folks who lost their jobs thanks to them. See what their response will be. Give 'em a Sarah Palin-befuddled-by-basic-questions moment.

Those damn Catholics ruin everything...

A show called "King's Men" will discuss men's spirituality, and there will also be a show with an anti-abortion focus entitled "Voices for the Unborn."

What do you think about "Words, Voices, Motions for the Unborn"?

Man, I hope that stroked-out nun (the one pictured) has a radio show. I love flipping through the channels and seeing her ranting angrily about all sorts of Jesus-y stuff, though I can only assume it's Jesus-y stuff as I can't understand a damn word she's saying. That would be priceless.

Yes- I'm aware of my "going to hell" status. I figure I'm going to do all I can to at least work my way to middle management.

From your link: "If all goes well with finalizing the purchase agreement, the air date for the new Catholic programming will be Oct. 7, the feast of Our Lady of Rosary, said WISP Program Director Patrick McCabe."

I'd call and ask what Our Lady of Rosary tastes like at the feast.

McGlinch - the bolding is to PULL the reasder in. It's a writing tool.
Fancy Schmancy - Very wise.
Gwen - I'll have to review my licensing agreement of WVM
Mathdude - love it!

Robert Henson used to live in the apartment below me. Nice guy, except for the night he and his girlfriend had a couple and decided to fight. I went down and banged on their door to have the "I have to work in the morning, could y'all shut up?" Conversation (to be followed by the "Hello, Caln police? Conversation if that didn't work out.)
They were sheepish, apologetic, and immediately silent. Also both over six feet tall, so I'm glad there wasn't hostility.
Also Robert: Nice boxers.

Oh, if ONLY I was in listening range.

Holy Habit Batman! That crazy nun scares me, but I used to like the one who interpreted paintings on PBS.

Since it appears the man himself has commented, I'll not respond to the boxers question. :)

I don't remember your guitar, that night just stuck out in my mind because I you answered the door and I saw these two very tall people and thought, oh crap. Nonetheless you were one of the neighbors we really liked. I can't believe I lived in that building for TWELVE YEARS. (We moved away. Far away.)

I was only working at the station for a little under two months and unexpectedly lost my job, but the entire staff? The hell with Holy Spirit Radio and their catholic programing!!!! I love God, and I am a christian, but their was nothing holy or God-like in a mass firing of people. How do they feel about terminating so many great people all at once who were never notified or given a fair chance before this awful deal went down!!!

This was the most stupid thing that could have happened to the employees and chester county residents period! WCOj was a main stay, a brand for almost 60 years, we have been "The Voice Of Chester County" since 1949.

It was a sad day when it all went black.
I will miss it, and never forget WCOJ.
