West Blogger Almost Meets Other West Chester Blogger

So I'm in West Chester at Iron Hill Brewery on Friday for the Mug Club sampler and I look out the window and who do I see? Kimmie, from the West Chester blog KimDeC. Just a bit of background:

- We've never met

- We started commenting on each others blogs recently. She even wrote a post about a Mexican restaurant in West Chester called Don Gabriel's. I've never been there but went there on her recommendation. And it was great.

- I know what she looks like because she has pictures of herself on her blog.

- She doesn't know what I look like as there is only one picture of me on my blog but my face is hidden.

So, I DID NOT introduce myself as I left because I was thinking it would go like this:

Me:Is your name Kimmie?
Her: Yes.
Me: Do you have a blog?
Her: (getting nervous) Yes?
Me: Well - I'm Dr Zibbs - creator of That Blue Yak.
Her: POLICE!!!!!!

As a side note, I was wearing a suit and I'm normal (on the outside) so it wouldn't have been like a homeless person limping up to her. AND she even said later - via her blog - that I should have said hello. Anyways. check out her blog and tell her Zibbs sent you.

Also, I'd love to hear any stories about how my readers have met any "real people" as a result of their blogs.

I met my buddy Metalmom. She lives in the Philly area and we went on a date and saw some of the murals of Philly. She brought her one friend with her. It was a threesome.

You should have introduced yourself. Bad, Dr., BAD!

I have met a number of blog friends at different gatherings in Chicago. I've even stayed at a few of their homes. It's always been a positive experience. In fact, my girlfriend and I met through our blogs. Apparently I can't make friends the way normal people do.

I met Jesus through Wordpress.

I would have imagined that scenario to have had a lot more tasering.

Someguy - what "gatherings" have you met people at? "Blog gatherings?" - Also, I've seen your girlfried on your blog but what is HER blog?

I stalked a local blogger in Banana Republic once. Luckily, she didn't call the cops.

I don't like to picture Zibbs wearing a suit. It ruins the overalls and mullet image I have in my head.

Zibbs + suit = not funny

Zibbs + gorilla suit = hilarious

Rider - a mullet and overalls? Is that how you people view me? Is it the bad spelling? (Which I might add is a matter of carelessness. Imagine when Mozart was creating HIS kind of brilliance. Do you think that HE stopped to make everything perfect? Do you think that these posts write themselves. Do you know that expression about a bad day fishin' is better than a good day at the office?....Well...I could think of similar to that but it had to do with spelling or something...well..I would. Or maybe it's the content that makes you think that....What does everyone else think?

There have been a few gatherings for people in and around Chicago. At one we had people there from as far away as California, Colorado, Arizona, and New York. They were mostly people who met through blogs. My girlfriend stopped doing her original blog. She now has a cooking one called "When Harry Met Salad", linked on my blog.

@rider - i remember when the Dr. did indeed have a mullet -- though he always claimed lamely he just needed a haircut. I'll see if I can draw a picture of him from back in the day.

I believe "Nubs" had a mallet.

You were wearing a suit? I had you pegged for Zubaz. Or at the most, a Zubaz suit.

I've never met a "real person" either...

And I picture you as an attorney who sneaks into the closet at work to tap out your weird little comments so you can go back in court and be sane.

Or, you know, wearing ripped shirts and stained jeans with disheveled hair and a 5 o'clock shadow.

Either way

Doc! You should have said hello!

I have never met a blogger, outside my in-real-life friends who were my friends before they started a blog. The closest I ever got was hosting McGone's Fernando for a fun-filled weekend.

I've met a few bloggers. They've all been very nice. In fact, I'm probably the most annoying out of all of us.

I've meet a few bloggers, too. The thing we all have in common: a drinking problem...and they are all good writers. The two go hand in hand, really.

Well, I've never met anyone, but I've only been doing this whole blogging thing for a few weeks. I'm not sure what I'd do either. I'd probably hide behind the closest thing I could. Lol...

BTW, thanks for the comment. Isn't that a great word? :-)

We're supposed to meet eachother in real life? WTF? No one told me this when I signed up for this blogging stuff. I don't want to meet any of you. None of you are probably as good looking as I envision you to be. Plus I sweat a lot, okay? It's a little awkward.

What are these "real people" you speak of? I prefer to conduct all of my relationships behind the protective barrier of a glowing screen.

There's a chance I may meet Katrocket in the future. She has recommended interesting events to attend here in Toronto. And while I've never actually met Falwless, I have watched her from the bushes outside her house.

I've met a few "real" people via my blog, and it's always gone very well. I consider these people my friends now, and would welcome the chance to meet Dr Zibbs if the opportunity ever arose.

Never met another blogger, although, I could have...if you weren't face first in your sampler!

This is a good post and all. But what I really take away from it is the startling fact that there is a good Mexican restaurant in West Chester.

We met Brandi of Something New several years ago and she visits occasionally when she has a flight through Knoxville. She even spent two nights at our house once and didn't kill us in our sleep, so I guess she's all right:)
